COMMUNITY EDUCATION COORDINATOR JOB GOAL
The role of the Community Education Coordinator is to recognize that a process of involving citizens in identifying the conditions and resources of the community is the central means of improving the well-being of those persons within the community. Further, the role of the Coordinator is to work collaboratively with the middle school administrators and high school athletic director to ensure a smooth running athletic program at the middle school level. The position of Community Education Coordinator is a 12-month, full-time position. He/she is directly responsible to the Middle School Athletic Director, Building Agents, Intramural staff, and officials.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess and be able to articulate and share a compelling vision of what a successful Community Education program should possess. Moderate to heavy lifting is required (up to 50 pounds). Good grammar, writing skills, and verbal skills. Must possess strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Programs. Good organizational skills and scheduling abilities. Ability to relate well to staff, students, parents, etc. Such other preference to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Must possess a high school diploma or
GED. 3-5
years in a similar field. CPR certified, AED certified.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the development of the Community Education staff in-service program. Assist in the development of the Community Education budget. Assist in the development of brochures to adequately promote Community Education. Purchase and inventory Community Education student enrichment supplies. Inform the Middle School Director of Athletics and Executive Director of Business & Finance on all programs, practices, problems, activities, and other important and relevant concerns. Recommend persons for employment. Evaluate the performance of Building Agents and other employees when needed. Visit program locations to be informed and to inform others. Maintain records as needed. Coordinate all facility rentals for the district from internal and external entities. Complete assignments as given by the Middle School Director of Athletics. Recommend new or revised Community Education programs to the Middle School Director of Athletics or Executive Director of Business & Finance. Coordinate all intramural athletic programs in K-12 grades. Be responsible for purchasing and maintaining all athletic equipment used in intramural programs. Hire coaches for all intramural teams. Provide teaching clinics for all coaches. Provide administrative supervision for intramural programs at all Monroe Public Schools' buildings as scheduled. Work in conjunction with other community agencies so as not to overlap services.

Develop, supervise, implement, and evaluate the student and adult enrichment programs. Assess the community formally and informally concerning Community Education needs inclusive of enrichment, recreational, academic, cultural, and social activities. Make daily and nightly visits; submit reports and suggestions concerning the Community Education program for the purpose of keeping members of the administration informed. Become part of the planning process for Community Education. Attend approved conferences, workshops, and meetings and keep abreast of practices in his/her area of responsibility and report same to other staff members. STAFF –

Assist in the interviewing process for the filling of Community Education positions. Continuously supervise all Community Education Building Agent personnel. Evaluate the Community Education Building Agents according to the policies and procedures of the Monroe Public Schools. Supervise appropriate secretarial personnel in accordance to Monroe Public Schools guidelines.
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

Assist in the development of the Community Education budget. Manage expenses and remain within budget allocations. Order all supplies for the all-inclusive Community Education program. Be responsible for purchasing equipment and supplies on a cost-saving basis. Establish registration procedures, collect and deposit fees, and maintain accurate records of deposits.

LOCATION
This position will be based at the Administration Building.
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS
260 workdays days per fiscal year, individual-exempt contract, health care (specific hours to be set by the employer).
Salary:
$45,500 to $48,500 commensurate with experience and education.
