With a previous work history in healthcare or biomedical engineering, the ideal Simulation Education Specialist candidate will have the capacity to learn how to independently support anesthesiology simulation and maintain the equipment used within the Program. Provide training and assistance to faculty, staff, and students in the use and application of the technology. Interact with faculty, staff and students during simulation experiences to enable experiential learning and/or assessment of students' skills. Promote and maintain all duties and responsibilities in accordance with CAAHEP/ARC-AA, AAAA/ASA, ASPE and SSiH code of ethics and standards of best practice.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide training and assistance to faculty, staff and students in the use and application of the medical suite of software Work cooperatively with information technology to ensure all hardware and software is up-to-date Ensure adequate equipment and supplies for simulation activities Maintain departmental inventory and order supplies as necessary Utilize simulation methodology for teaching and assessing health professional students Communicate with students in a straightforward and positive way Be flexible and adapt quickly to changes in a dynamic work environment Exemplify a positive attitude and work well with students, staff, and faculty Maintain the confidentiality of the students Work cooperatively Simulated Patients and promote their professional development Coordinate schedules for all events within the department Liaison with other departments as needed to ensure appropriate staffing at all events Participate in departmental research and publication of results Maintain current membership in relevant professional societies Provide faculty development with the use of simulation, simulation equipment and teaching strategies Engage in community outreach programs Represent the department and University favorably and in accordance with established Core Values and expectations Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization Qualifications:
Knowledge typically obtained through Bachelor's degree or training within a healthcare or biomedical role Experience with simulation education task trainers and hi-fidelity manikins for healthcare learners Proficient with Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and Adobe Excellent verbal and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with simulation for anesthesiology, emergency medicine, respiratory or critical care Certification of CHSOS and/or CHSE Knowledge typically obtained through Master's degree or training education Equal Opportunity Employer KCU is committed to promoting an equal employment opportunity workplace.
