POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY
The goal for the Special Services Behavioral Specialist position is to build the capacity of Fort Zumwalt staff to increase student learning that promotes measurable and meaningful behavior change.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The Special Services Behavioral Specialist shall have Department of Elementary and Secondary Education certification and experience working with students with significantly lagging behavioral and social emotional learning skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement, facilitate, and coach a quality collaborative problem-solving process. The highly developed skills needed for this responsibility include, but are not limited to: Utilizing quality data collection methods specific to each step in the process Creating quality problem statements and writing goals that meet SMART criteria Teaching teams high-quality functional behavioral assessment (FBA) and root cause analysis Supporting collaborative team development of a quality behavior intervention plan (BIP) with evidence-based strategies directly connected to the function or suspected root cause Ensuring progress monitoring, including student growth and quality of intervention implementation Guiding collaborative problem-solving teams to make decisions based on evidence Utilize strong Interpersonal skills needed for developing and maintaining productive partnerships with staff, students, and families Apply understanding of systems of support (i.e., MTSS, RTI, PBIS) to assist school leadership in developing and/or continuously improving the building level implementation of quality prevention and early intervention practices Utilize evidence-based practices for staff learning, including, but not limited to, modeling, guided practice, and feedback for improvement
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Possess the ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in written form, with administrators, staff, and the community as needed.
MENTAL DEMANDS
Ability to maintain highly confidential information; communicate clearly both orally and in writing, and/or ability to reason and make appropriate decisions. Solve a variety of problems in many different situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and work year will be in accordance with the current teacher salary schedule. Seven and one-half hours (including a non-paid 30-minute lunch period) will constitute a workday. The Board of Education may modify the work calendar at any time, as needs dictate.
EVALUATION
End-of-the-year performance evaluations will then continue annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional staff personnel.
