Job Description

Elementary Dean Direct Report :
Headmaster
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists the Headmaster in designing the master curriculum schedule. Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment. Assists in program implementation, curriculum development and in integration of curriculum standards, instructional strategies, and the developmental use of authentic assessment. Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan. Assists in strengthening instructional programs through a strategically planned, standards-based approach with a focus on narrowing achievement gaps. Provides instructional and technical assistance to staff as well as other stakeholders as directed by the Headmaster. Assists with data organization from all assessments and diagnostic instruments and develops strategies for intervening with students who are experiencing difficulties. Engages staff in intensive data analysis and results planning. Works collaboratively with other educators to integrate educational initiatives and resources. Models a variety of instructional strategies designed to be rigorous and mirror assessment. Assists in identifying professional development needs and developing long-range professional development plans. Works collaboratively with EC, ELL, Special Area Teachers, School Counselors, Psychologist and curriculum based contracted services. Works collaboratively with the Testing Coordinator to develop the testing calendar and in administering national and state assessments as directed by the Headmaster. Assists in developing and implementing the school's improvement plans designed to meet individual student achievement needs and learning plans. Coordinates curriculum nights and curriculum based special events. Assists with student discipline as directed by the Headmaster. Assists teachers in demonstrating and differentiating methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirements. Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
PREFERRED COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of Core Knowledge Curriculum Knowledge of NC standards Knowledge of curriculum and instruction, theory and practice Knowledge of instructional strategies and how to monitor classroom instruction Knowledge of how to research, compile and disaggregate school data. Knowledge of national, state and local organizations and support services Knowledge of basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent, and/or ratios. Strong time management skills Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to plan and lead professional development for school staff. Ability to work with parents to resolve issues. Ability to organize and complete tasks and responsibilities Ability to collaborate and interact with peers Ability to make decisions, meet program guidelines and deadlines Ability to resolve complex issues related to policies, procedures and legal issues Ability to coordinate projects involving input from and recommendations to staff Ability to work with limited supervision Strong skills in judgment, problem solving and decision making. Excellent computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Skills in technology related to communication and generating reports
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Education NCDPI Teacher License Certification / Praxis Scores
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Five to seven years of related work experience Criminal background check, fingerprinting and drug testing. Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 40% sitting, 20% walking, and 40% standing.

Pay:
$56,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
