Job Description

Under general supervision, the Instructional Coordinator serves as a faculty member and Curriculum Coordinator for the Medical Office Administration (MOA) program, responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, supporting student success, and leading curriculum development and program improvement efforts. The role ensures alignment with industry standards, workforce needs, and accreditation requirements while fostering collaboration across the department, Continuing Education, and campus partners. The position also supervises MOA instructors and contributes to program growth, outreach, and institutional initiatives. Click here to learn more about our Administrative & Healthcare Technology Programs Teaches assigned Medical Office Administration courses using appropriate instructional methods in classroom, lab, and/or online settings. Develops and maintains instructional materials including lesson plans, course syllabi, learning objectives, assignments, and assessments. Evaluates and selects textbooks, software, and instructional resources to support curriculum quality and relevance. Assesses student learning through grading, feedback, and evaluation of coursework and practical assignments. Maintains accurate academic records and completes required reports such as attendance, grade reports, and end-of-semester documentation. Collaborates with Continuing Education to develop and deliver Medical Office Administration-related courses and workforce training opportunities. Advises and supports students in academic planning, registration, career pathways, and study skills development. Assists students with Work-Based Learning (WBL) placements, documentation, and coordination with campus offices and external partners. Supports student progression and completion by assisting with graduation processes and required documentation. Serves as Curriculum Coordinator for the MOA program, leading curriculum planning, development, evaluation, and updates in alignment with industry standards and program goals. Coordinates and responds to Program Review processes, including implementation of recommendations and continuous improvement initiatives. Assists in marketing and promoting the MOA program to prospective students and community stakeholders. Supervises full-time and part-time MOA instructors, including assigning work, providing guidance, and supporting instructional quality. Maintains current knowledge of industry trends, healthcare office technologies, and instructional best practices through professional development and engagement in professional organizations. Collaborates and communicates effectively with faculty, staff, and administrators across departments and divisions. Maintains instructional and administrative files and documentation in compliance with institutional requirements. Prepares, reviews, and processes a variety of reports and documents, including schedules, evaluation forms, professional development records, marketing plans, and correspondence. Operates and maintains office and instructional equipment, including computers, audio-visual tools, and related technologies. Serves on college committees, participates in meetings, and contributes to institutional initiatives and special projects. Assists part-time instructors and provides instructional coverage for absent faculty as needed. Responds to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and the public in a timely and professional manner. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field Work experience in a health-related environment with general knowledge of routine office management and/or at least two (2) years' experience of curriculum teaching in post-secondary institution Preferred Qualifications Master's degree Experience teaching continuing education classes RHIA credential
Work Environment:
Work is primarily performed in a classroom or laboratory setting equipped with standard instructional technology. The position involves frequent interaction with students, faculty, and staff and includes the use of online instructional platforms. Occasional travel may be required for professional development, off-campus instruction, or college events.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position: Frequently sits for extended periods while performing administrative and instructional duties. Regularly stands, walks, and moves between offices, classrooms, and campus locations. Uses hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, and other office equipment. Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with individuals and groups. Occasionally lifts and/or moves items such as instructional materials, office supplies, or equipment (generally up to 20-25 pounds). May need to reach, bend, stoop, or kneel to access files, equipment, or classroom materials. Visual ability to read documents, review data, and operate computer systems. Ability to travel between campus locations or external sites as needed.
Normal Working Hours:
Full-Time, 12-month, faculty position. Teaching responsibilities may include daytime, evening, hybrid, and online classes as assigned to meet departmental needs. Office hours are required for student advising, course prep, committee participation, etc. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for outreach activities, program support or professional development.
