The YMCA of Southern Nevada is looking for an Outdoor Education Coordinator. In this position, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering high-quality outdoor education programming for YMCA of Southern Nevada members. This includes leading the Take-a-Hike program (free outdoor excursions for members) and delivering age-appropriate outdoor education experiences for Summer Camp and Power Scholars participants. You will need to ensure programs are safe, inclusive, educational, and aligned with YMCA values. This is a part-time in-person position requiring 15 hours per week. You will work out of the Heinrich YMCA at 4141 Meadows Lane. Office work will generally be performed during normal business hours, but you will often need to be available to run programs on evenings and weekends.RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, organize, and execute Outdoor Education programs, including the Take-A-Hike member program. Lead and facilitate outdoor education activities for Summer Camp and Power Scholars participants, aligning lessons with age-appropriate learning outcomes. Form and nurture partnerships with public and federal land agencies. Develop lesson plans that align with state and national education standards where applicable. Collaborate with Out-of-School-time program leaders to align outcomes and enhance program quality. Ensure all outdoor programs meet YMCA safety standards, risk management policies, and best practices, including while supervising groups of up to 100 children offsite. Coordinate logistics for hikes and outdoor experiences, including routes, transportation needs, supplies, and participant communication. Maintain accurate program documentation, participation records, evaluations, and reports. Complete reporting for grant funded programs when required including NOER and 21st Century. Serve as a positive role model and build meaningful relationships with participants, families, and staff. Collaborate with other YMCA departments to support integrated programming and special events. Assist with the setup, breakdown, and maintenance of program equipment and supplies. Maintain outdoor education curriculum materials and ensure inventory is organized and in good condition. Respond to member and family questions and feedback in a timely, professional manner. Work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as program needs require. Perform all other duties as assigned.ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS
Adheres to policies related to boundaries with children. Attends required abuse risk management training. Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements. Adheres to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities. Follows employees and volunteers screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk. Reports essential abuse risk management information to their supervisor, executive director, or human resources.END RESULTS

Education background in Recreation, Outdoor Education, Environmental Studies, Conservation, Education, or related field preferred. One to two years of experience in outdoor education, recreation programming, youth development, or related areas preferred.Minimum age:
21 years. Strong organizational, communication, and group facilitation skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
