Back Instructional Design Intern: Training Design & Development

Expected duration3-6 months, start date: May 2026 Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis internship is located within the Capacity Development and Operational Training Service (CDOTS) in the Department of Operational Support (DOS). CDOTS provides operational training, language and communications training, training on the UN's enterprise resource planning system, knowledge management, and leads as the main facilitator of business process management activities in the UN Secretariat. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic intern to join the Learning and Development team. This internship opportunity offers a unique experience to contribute to the UN's mission while gaining valuable insights and practical skills in the field of learning and development. Under the supervision of the Training Officer, the intern will:

• Support the design, development, and implementation of HR-related training programmes
• Assist in creating and updating training materials, including e-learning modules, and training manuals/user guides
• Collect and analyse data related to learning and development initiatives to measure their effectiveness and suggest improvements
• Explore and recommend innovative learning technologies and tools to enhance the training experience
• Conduct research on learning and development trends, best practices, and emerging methodologies
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of training initiatives Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent).

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or PhD Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PHD Programme. Applicants must be proficient in standard office software systems (e.g., MS Office 365 or similar) Preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in instructional design and demonstrated proficiency in content authoring software (Articulate 360 and/or Adobe Captivate), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro), and using a Moodle-based Learning Management System. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is desirable. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
