$3,000 Position Overview Pine Valley CSD is seeking a dedicated and dynamic educator to serve as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) - K-12 Dean of Students & District Curriculum Coordinator . This role is designed to support the principals in maintaining a positive school climate, addressing student discipline, and ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment. Additionally, the individual will assist in overseeing curriculum development, alignment, and instructional improvement across the district. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to foster student success and instructional excellence. Position Characteristics 10 days minimum in the summer, up to 15 (as requested by admin) at per diem rate 3 hours per week beyond contractual time Qualifications & Requirements Valid NY State Teaching Certification; Administrative Certification (preferred but not required). Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, with demonstrated leadership experience. Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional best practices, and student behavioral interventions. Experience in student discipline, behavior management, and restorative justice practices. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, teachers, staff, students, and parent/guardian(s). Proficiency in data analysis to support instructional decision-making and behavioral interventions.
Key Responsibilities Dean of Students Responsibilities:
Assist building principals in managing student discipline, including investigating incidents, implementing interventions, and enforcing school policies. Work with teachers, counselors, and support staff to address student behavioral and academic concerns. Promote a positive school climate through proactive initiatives that support student engagement, attendance, and conflict resolution. Implement and monitor social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student behavior, discipline, and support plans. Support attendance initiatives, track student behavior data, and analyze trends to develop proactive interventions. Assist in supervising school events, arrival/dismissal procedures, and other administrative duties as assigned by principals. Assist with building coverage when an administrator is out of the building.
District Curriculum Coordinator Responsibilities:
Support aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices to state and district standards. Provide leadership and support in selecting, implementing, and evaluating instructional materials and resources. Facilitate professional development opportunities to enhance instructional practices and curriculum implementation, including summer. Collaborate with teachers and administrators to analyze student achievement data and develop strategies for improvement. Support the development of instructional coaching, mentoring, and teacher collaboration to improve student learning outcomes. Work with special education staff to ensure curriculum accessibility and instructional accommodations for diverse learners. Provide leadership in integrating technology into curriculum and instruction.
