Rossford, OH Job Details Part-time $23,639.40 a year 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications Associate's degree Full Job Description Prevention Education Specialist, serving Wood County School Districts, is a 3 day per week, 10 month position. Position Overview The Wood County Educational Service Center (WCESC) is seeking applicants for Prevention Education Specialist. This position supports local schools by delivering engaging, research-supported prevention education programming to students across all grade levels (K-12). This role focuses on helping students develop safe decision-making, coping, and refusal skills that reduce substance use and other at-risk behaviors. Programming may address topics such as substance use prevention, suicide and violence prevention, gambling prevention, sexual abuse prevention, and healthy relationship skills. The Prevention Education Specialist works in a school setting, collaboratively with teachers, school administrators, families, and community partners to promote social-emotional learning and support safe, healthy, and drug-free school environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach evidence-based prevention education lessons to students in Wood County schools. Coordinate program delivery with school administrators and staff to ensure programming aligns with district needs. Offer classroom, small-group, or individual prevention education sessions for students when appropriate. Guide students to develop skills in decision-making, coping, and refusal strategies that promote healthy choices. Support school-based teams in addressing risk factors and strengthening protective factors that contribute to student success. Use available data (such as youth survey results and pre-/post-tests) to help guide programming recommendations. Collaborate with community agencies when additional resources or services are needed. Complete required documentation and reports to support program evaluation and compliance with funding and certification requirements. Attend professional development opportunities, including conferences and webinars, to remain current on prevention education best practices. Working Environment This position is primarily school-based and involves regular interaction with students and school staff. Occasional travel between school sites may be required. Work may include interaction with students experiencing behavioral challenges.
Qualifications:
Clear background check Reliable transportation. Associate's degree required (Bachelor's degree preferred) in education, social work, human development and family students or a related field. Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist Assistant (OCPSA) certification or willingness to obtain. Experience with school-aged youth, in a school setting (preferred). Experience in substance use, mental health, gambling, and/or relationship violence prevention education preferred. Why Join WCESC?
