Education:
Masters degree preferred; valid Oklahoma teaching certificate in academic subject supported

SUMMARY:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
: These statements are intended to describe the responsibilities assigned to the position and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required. Increases academic achievement of special education student by working with teachers and administrators to develop, implement and align the district's written, taught and assessed curriculum in the area of special education. Conduct meetings with appropriate staff to develop, update and revise curriculum materials such as curriculum guides, content standards and course objectives.

Meetings may occur outside the school contract day. Meet with department chairs/vertical team leaders to ensure the development, alignment, coordination, articulation and evaluation of the district's written, taught and assessed curriculum. Effectively utilizes the district's instructional management system to enhance departmental curriculum objectives and track appropriate assessment trends. Provides training to assist principals and teachers in disaggregating and analyzing student achievement data from state and local assessments at the site, classroom and individual student levels to determine performance on specific learning objectives. Provides modeling of teaching strategies and constructive feedback to improve classroom practice through in-service. Serves as a resource for teachers, principals and parents on curriculum content and other special education issues as needed .Serves as a liaison between central office administrators and teaching staff throughout the district. Conducts meetings with appropriate staff members to develop recommendations for the adoption of curriculum and other instructional materials for special education instruction PK - 12. Assists with appropriate program evaluation efforts to improve effectiveness,efficiency and productivity. Evaluates programs to design and conduct professional development activities to deepen the content knowledge and skills of instructional staff members. Coordinates with the Executive Director to provide direct services to schools in the delivery of professional development. Organizes, teaches, and manages Broken Arrow Special Education Boot Camp each year to prepare teacher candidates for the special education classroom. Develops, organizes and creates the New Teacher Professional Development program each year with the assistance of other special education staff as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.

ATTENDANCE STATEMENT
Able to be in attendance for assigned responsibilities with 95% attendance.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Primarily inside working conditions with minimal exposure to extreme weather conditions.
PHYSICAL STANDARDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit at a desk or in meetings for long periods; travel to school sites; and using keyboarding skills, work on a computer for long periods.
