    Staff & Client Specialist - Wayne County Wayne County, Michigan

    • Exempt ECE SubHub is looking for a Staff & Client Specialist to own our client relationships and substitute staff operations across Wayne County.
    This is a hands-on, relationship-first role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, communicates well under pressure, and takes real pride in keeping programs running smoothly.

    SubHub is a locally owned, full-service substitute staffing company built exclusively for early childhood education. We place qualified Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers, and Aides in childcare centers and preschools across Southeast Michigan — so our partner programs are never short-staffed and the children in their care never miss a beat.     WHAT YOU'LL DO
    Own your region. Be the go-to partner for directors, site supervisors, and program staff across Wayne County, building trust through fast, personal, solution-focused communication and regular check-ins. Keep classrooms covered. Manage daily and long-term scheduling, match substitutes to each site's needs, and respond quickly to call-offs - including early-morning and evening phone coverage - to keep your fill rate high. Lead your team. Coach, support, and hold accountable the substitute teachers in your region; help interview new hires, run orientations, and conduct regular performance check-ins and reviews (partnering closely with HR throughout). Grow the business. Represent ECE SubHub at conferences and community events in Wayne County and the greater area, build a pipeline of prospective programs, and confidently guide new clients toward partnership. Make it personal. Listen to your people, hold scheduled virtual office hours so staff always have access to you, celebrate them through teacher appreciation events, and help everyone find where they fit best.
    WHAT YOU BRING A
    warm, friendly, professional presence and genuine people skills Supervisory experience (strongly preferred) and a talent for accountability with empathy Knowledge of early childhood education programs; familiarity with Head Start or GSRP is a plus Standout communication and responsiveness - you reply fast and stay calm under pressure Strong organization and the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing day A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel your region three to five days a week Willingness to step into a classroom as a substitute when needed (clearances required) Comfort with Google Workspace and Zoom; willingness to learn scheduling and ATS tools like Bullhorn and Paylocity A bachelor's degree in Education, Communications, Human Services, or a related field - or equivalent experience in a relevant role
    THE DETAILS
    Territory:
    Wayne County, Michigan Reports To:
    Senior HR Generalist & Chief Operating Officer Schedule:
    Client visits during business hours (3-5 days/week in-field); early-morning availability 6:30-9:30 a.m. and evening phone coverage for call-offs; scheduled weekly virtual office hours
    Travel:
    Regional travel three to five days per week; mileage beyond 30 miles one way reimbursed at the current federal rate

    Full-time, salaried (exempt)
