Job Description

R esponsible for supporting schools in implementin g the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Health and Physical Education. This includes developing , presenting , and delivering programs and interventions that promote school health and well-being for students , staff, parents , and the community. The following functions represent the majority of the duties and responsibilities of this position . All employees must maintain a commitment to the THD's mission, vision , and strategic goals. This summary is not meant to be all-inclusive or prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Deliver engaging, skills-based health education and physical education lessons to elementary students in Tulsa County. Act as a liaison for the School Health program while at schools, assisting in scheduling and relationship building. Promote Tulsa Health Department's programs to individuals in Tulsa County schools and work with existing agency pr ograms to promote health education in schools. Participate in before school, evening , and weekend events including a s semblies, s chool f unctions, and parent engagement events, as needed . Assist with program data collection and reporting for the School Health program. Assist in curriculum development for the School Health program, as needed. Collaborate with partnering school s and School Health staff to deliver effective prevention programming for students , school personnel, and parents. Provide health and physical education training to school and community members. Assist in the development of projects that further the School Health p rogram 's reach . Complete requi red training in support of the duties and responsibilities of this position . Other duties as assigned including those required to fulfill activities in support of public health emergency operations.
Education:
Baccalaureate degree in health education and promotion, education, child development, nutritional science, dietetics , public health , or a related field is required .
Experience:
E xperience in education, public speaking, program development , curriculum development, and communication skills preferred .
Knowledge & Skills:
Communicate ef fectively orally and in writing with diverse populations and age groups. Proficient in preparing and facilitating in-person and virtual presentations.
Certification:
Current certification as a Certified Health Education Specialist through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. is preferred.
Licenses:
Valid Oklahoma driver's license and reliable transportation.
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Internal contact with associate director , manager, supervisor , and employees regarding School Health programming . External contact with the public to provide health information.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This p osition will be working in Tulsa County schools. A majority of the time will be spent in a classroom setting in a public school.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Reaching above shoulder height to adjust video equipment and reach supplies , s tooping, and lifting boxes of materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Must be able to stand for an extended period of time (60 minutes) to teach in various classroom settings. Must be able to perform basic motor movements such as walking from vehicle to building and occasionally climbing stairs.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must maintain T HD record confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations . Must possess the ability and willingness to perform work-related travel. Must be available for occasional work outside of normal office hours including mornings, evenings , and weekends.
