TITLE:
Instructional Coach
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and Oklahoma Teaching Certificate
Three or more years of recent classroom experience teaching reading
Knowledge of reading, writing and literacy development and instructional best practices across the curriculum
Knowledge of scientifically based reading research as it applies to instructional programs, strategies and assessments in a variety of settings and grade levels (K-12)
Knowledge of modifying instructional practices for English language learners and students with disabilities, or who are gifted and talented
Experience leading teachers in the area of instructional delivery across the curriculum
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in reading
Technology skills to organize data and to present information clearly to a variety of audiences
Experience in analyzing disaggregated student achievement data

JOB GOAL
To improve teacher instructional practices in all disciplines while supporting student achievement.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Encourage collaboration and reflective practice
Advance personal knowledge of exemplary classroom instructional practice and develop a deep understanding of literacy theory
Extend literacy competencies through professional development opportunities and networking with other instructional coaches in Oklahoma schools
Participate in instructional coach training
Support RTI practices within the building
Maintain an awareness of current reading research, curricula trends as well as instructional best practices
Help improve instruction by engaging teachers in intensive professional development and promote a school-based professional community
Provide demonstrations of research-based literacy strategies as well as instructional best practices
Observe and coach classroom teachers in effective practices
Provide sustained mentoring to classroom teachers
Plan and conduct professional meetings on literacy as well as instructional best practices
Assist teachers in aligning their instructional strategies with appropriate standards, curricula, and assessments
Manage and evaluate the school's instructional program as directed by site principal
Collect data, analyze results, and report findings
Evaluate student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate intervention and support services
Evaluate effectiveness of the overall instructional program
Identify needs and make recommendations for appropriate reading and writing materials
Provide instructional leadership across the school community
Meet weekly with the principal to report on progress and plan next steps
Network with other instructional coaches in developing, implementing, and researching a literacy-based program as well as instructional best practices
Communicate the results and spotlight the school's focus on literacy to the school board, business community, and parents
To ensure continuity of services, remote work may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee's eligibility for remote work will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for remote work will be distributed by the employee's supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
