Content Area:
Literacy Reports to: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and Building Principals
Role:
The Elementary Instructional Coach is a leadership position that will play a key role in supporting the district's efforts around effective implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment in elementary school.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Assistant Superintendent and Building Principals to oversee implementation of high quality instructional materials in each content area.
  • Develop and implement curriculum plans aligned with district and building improvement goals
  • Manage curricular resources including online access, physical materials, and ordering
  • Monitor curricular assessments and data
  • Coordinate and facilitate professional learning opportunities
  • Provide coaching around content-based instructional practices to grade level teams
  • Provide support in analyzing student assessment data.
  • Support the facilitation of common planning time, including use of protocols to internalize units and intellectual preparation for lessons and using assessment data to inform instruction.
  • Manage time and schedule flexibility to maximize time with teachers and maintain open communication
  • Organize and facilitate learning walks aligned with curriculum implementation goals.
  • Support the work of literacy and math specialists through coaching and ongoing collaboration.
  • Utilizing research-based practices, support MTSS processes aligned with the content areas.
  • Participate in professional development for coaches, including but not limited to, walk-throughs, professional research and reading, and inquiry sessions.
  • Work collaboratively and collegially with all members of the professional learning community.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate culturally relevant and responsive practices.
  • Support the implementation of preschool curriculum and assessment
  • Schedule regular meetings with building principals
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A master's degree from an accredited college/university is preferred. Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience. Current Rhode Island Teaching License. Proficiency in Science of Reading Demonstrated knowledge of Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, and Rhode Island content standards. Experience in researched-­based instructional practices. Desire to continue career improvement. Previous coaching or teacher leadership experience including but not limited to: Modeling instructional strategies, implementation of professional learning communities, providing direct instructional feedback, and supporting continuous improvement, active role on School Improvement Team Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for building an environment with a common instructional focus, promoting initiatives, and conveying expectations. Ability to design and deliver quality professional development for administrators and teachers Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing Demonstrated strength in organization, communication skills and efficiency in meeting deadlines Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team Demonstrated interest and engagement in professional learning and reflection

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Length of the contract to be determined by the Superintendent.
