GENERAL SUMMARY
The Secondary Instructional Technology Coach provides direct, job-embedded support to middle and high school teachers and administrators to enhance teaching and learning through effective technology integration. This position focuses on instructional coaching, collaborative planning, classroom support, and professional learning to improve student outcomes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides job-embedded coaching to middle and high school teachers through co-planning, co-teaching, modeling lessons, and observation/feedback cycles. Supports teachers in designing engaging, technology-rich lessons aligned to curriculum standards and instructional goals. Assists teachers in integrating digital tools into instruction, assessment, and student collaboration in purposeful and pedagogically sound ways. Works with teachers to implement personalized and blended learning strategies appropriate for secondary students. Supports teachers in analyzing student work and data to refine technology-supported instructional strategies. Provides classroom-based support for new initiatives, digital platforms, and instructional tools adopted by the district. Professional development and Capacity Building Plans and facilitates professional learning sessions for middle and high school staff on effective instructional technology practices. Designs differentiated professional learning opportunities based on teacher readiness and content area needs. Develops practical resources, exemplars, and toolkits that support secondary classroom implementation. Collaborates with school administrators and instructional coaches to align technology integration with school improvement goals. models best practices in digital citizenship, responsible AI use, and student-centered technology integration. Stays current on emerging technologies and instructional strategies relevant to adolescent learners and shares best practices with staff. Collaboration and school-based support Serves as a consistent instructional technology presence in assigned secondary schools. Partners with principals and school leadership teams to identify instructional needs and design appropriate technology supports. Collaborates with content-area teams (e.g., math, ELA, science, social studies, CTE, electives) to integrate technology in discipline-specific ways. Works closely with the district Instructional Technology Coordinator and IT department to communicate classroom needs and implementation feedback. Supports onboarding and mentoring of new teachers in effective classroom technology use. Assists with instructional uses of district platforms such as the LMS, assessment systems, and collaborative tools. Leadership and Continuous Improvement Contributes to district initiatives related to digital learning, AI integration, and instructional innovation. Helps monitor and reflect on the effectiveness of technology integration efforts at the secondary level. Promotes equitable access and effective use of digital resources for all secondary students. Participates in district and school-based planning committees as appropriate. Performs other related duties as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Master's degree in education, instructional technology, or a related field. Valid teaching certificate required. Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience at the middle or high school level preferred. Demonstrated success integrating technology into classroom instruction to improve student learning. Experience leading professional development and/or serving in a teacher leadership role. Experience working in a 1:1 device environment preferred.
Knowledge:
Strong understanding of Elementary instructional practices and adolescent learning. Knowledge of instructional design principles and digital learning tools. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other educational software used in Elementary settings. Excellent coaching, communication, and collaboration skills. Ability to build trust and positive relationships with teachers and administrators. Ability to analyze instructional needs and provide practical, classroom-ready solutions. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed primarily in middle and high school settings with regular travel between schools. Frequent classroom observation, collaboration, and facilitation of professional learning sessions. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Must be able to lift and carry light equipment or materials as needed.
