Library Media Specialist 2026-2027
School Year Location:
Varnville, SC Full-Time • 37.5 Hours/Week • 43-Week Contract Start Date:
August 3, 2026 We are seeking two enthusiastic and innovative Library Media Specialists to support students and educators for the 2026-2027 school year. These roles are centered on fostering a culture of reading, empowering information literacy, and integrating technology to enhance learning. One position will support both elementary and middle levels, and the other will serve the high school. The ideal candidates will model effective use of information media and instructional technology, promote active inquiry, and create welcoming library environments that support collaboration, creativity, and lifelong learning. Position Overview The Library Media Specialist will lead and support the school's library program by facilitating access to resources, guiding students in research and digital citizenship, and collaborating with teachers to enrich curriculum and instruction. This educator will support current educational initiatives, adapt to evolving technologies, and adhere to all applicable policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Create a learning environment that encourages reading, inquiry, and information literacy. Manage and organize library media resources and maintain an accessible, inclusive library space. Model and integrate effective use of instructional technology and digital tools. Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum planning and design. Provide instruction on research skills, information evaluation, and responsible technology use. Encourage student engagement through programs, activities, and creative learning opportunities. Use required documentation platforms, including Ed Plan and PowerSchool. Support school-wide literacy and technology initiatives. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field Experience or strong understanding of curriculum design, instructional planning, and educational technology Compliance with all professional standards of practice Current CPR certification (if applicable) TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (as applicable) Current health certificate (if required by state or contract) Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements Must be at least 18 years of age Out-of-state certifications are accepted if valid and in good standing.
