Job Description

The University of Tennessee at Martin invites applications for the position of Instructional Technology Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Application Development & Operations, Web Services and Instructional Technology Center, the Instructional Technology Specialist supports faculty and academic programs in the effective integration of instructional technologies to enhance teaching and learning. This position collaborates with faculty to design, develop, and evaluate high-quality, accessible learning experiences across face-to-face, hybrid, and online environments. The role applies instructional design principles, instructional technologies, and data-informed practices to support effective and scalable instruction. Key Responsibilities Partner with faculty to design, develop, and improve courses across multiple delivery modalities Apply instructional design principles, accessibility standards, and effective teaching strategies Provide guidance on the use of instructional technologies to support teaching and learning goals Design and deliver workshops, training sessions, and professional development for faculty and staff Support implementation and effective use of the University's learning management system and related tools Collaborate with campus partners on instructional technology initiatives Conduct course reviews and provide recommendations for continuous improvement Develop instructional resources, documentation, and support materials Required Qualifications Master's degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field Three (3) or more years of relevant professional experience in instructional design, educational technology, or a related area (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) Experience working with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, D2L) Experience supporting or training faculty, staff, or other professional audiences Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education Experience designing and delivering faculty development or training programs Experience with online and hybrid course development Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices Knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theory Knowledge of instructional technologies and their application in education Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
