PRIMARY PURPOSE
To strengthen the quality instruction in language arts classrooms.
QUALIFICATIONS
EducationCertification:
Bachelor's Degree; Master's degree from accredited universitycollege preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject level assigned
Certification as Abydos Trainer preferred

Demonstrated excellence as a teacher adults, professional developer, instructional coach
Demonstrated ability to work well with people, maintain positive working relationships, and solve problems
Possess specific knowledge the reading process, structured literacy framework and principles, the
writing process, struggling reader instructional strategies and current methodologies, PreAPAP and TSIA
expectations and strategies, TEKS and
STAAREOC
Ability to analyze instruction and determine next steps for teacher as well as student growth
Knowledge and ability to build instructional capacity to support high student achievement in reading and
writing
Experience:
At least five years classroom teaching experience
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instructional . Demonstrate effective strategies for teaching in the language arts classroom.
Strategies
. Help teachers plan and use appropriate instructional learning strategies,
activities, materials, and equipment.
. Help teachers prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual
student differences and needs.
. Cooperate with other members the staff in planning and implementing
instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
Student . Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission the
Growth District.
And Development
. Collect data for longitudinal evaluation students' progress.
. Assist teachers in adapting and adjusting instruction and curriculum to ensure the
success children.
. Disaggregate data to determine student, teacher, campus, and District strengths
and weaknesses.
Instructional Specialist•Secondary ELA
. Assist teachers in creating a classroom environment conducive to learning and
appropriate to the physical, and emotional development students.
. Provide instructional support to increase level rigor in ELA classrooms.
. Demonstrate exceptional teaching to support teachers by coaching and modeling in
the classroom.
Management and
Organization . Provide assistance in the procurement and placement suitable instructional
Communication materials.
. Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and
clearly.
. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues.
. Establish and maintain open lines communication between campus staff and
administrators.
. Channel concerns expressed by teachers to the correct department or person.
. Consult regularly with the Coordinator Language Arts, principals, and teachers.
Professional . Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
Growth and
Development . Participate in the District staff development program.
. Keep abreast current research-based literacy practices.
. Maintain current information other District programs i.e., GATE, ESL, Special
Education, Advanced Placement Training.
. Organize and conduct in-service and workshops.
. Keep current with information concerning trends in language arts in order to
share with District teachers.
Policy and . Keep informed of, and comply with, the state, District, and school regulation
Implementation policies for classroom teachers.
. Assist in interpreting the language arts program to teachers, principals, staff
members, and the public.
. Assist in making curriculum and assessment decisions based on need and best
practices.
. Comply, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
Other . Perform any other duties assigned.

Physical DemandsEnvironmental Factors:
