PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The SCE Teaching and Learning Coach will assist with closing the student achievement gap and accelerating learning for all students by building teacher capacity through job-embedded professional learning and implementation effective instructional practices. The SCE Teaching and Learning Coach will support and provide coaching to improve classroom instruction that leads to improved student achievement. The SCE Teaching and Learning Coach will work with individual students andor small groups students to provide focused interventions and progress monitoring to improve academics for all students.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum EducationCertification:

Valid Texas Teaching Certificate Bachelor's Degree Master's Degree in Education or related field preferred

Special KnowledgeSkills:

Working knowledge Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies curriculum and instruction Knowledge literacy development Experience in school-based instructional leadership Knowledge in interpretation TEKS objectives and STAAR results to assist teachers in development instructional plans Experience working with students and parents diverse backgrounds Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators and other school personnel Knowledge and expertise in differentiated instructional practices Experience in presenting professional development for teachers

Minimum Experience:

Minimum five years experience as a classroom teacher with preferred experience in a STAAR testing grade level

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

COACHING:

. Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers. . Provide andor assist teachers in creating materials that are in alignment with curriculum. . Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs. . Demonstrate and model exemplary instructional practices. . Provide personalized, : support based on the goals and identified needs individual teachers. . Function as a positive collaborative member the team. SCE Teaching and Learning Coach Job Description . Support teachers, through the coaching model, with regard to assigned content, instructional methodology, materials and changes needed for improvement. . Assist teachers in obtaining a deep knowledge and experience with assessment driven instruction. . Meet regularly with teachers in planning and developing appropriate instructional strategies.

Student Interventions:

. Assist teachers by providing curriculum and assessments for intervention instruction to identified students. . Provide support in analyzing student assessment data including assisting teachers with instructional decisions. . Monitor the intervention program for selected students (RtI).

Instructional Leadership:

. Demonstrate willingness to assume leadership positions. . Demonstrate strength in communication, organizational skills, and efficiency in meeting deadlines. . Participate fully in professional development activities, including instructional coaching workshops and conferences, and stay abreast current trends in instructional coaching. . Maintain positive and open communication among administrators and teachers. . Work collaboratively and collegially with other Instructional Coaches, curriculum specialists and district specialists. . Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals. . Assist teachers in managing time and maximizing student time on task. . Review and recommend resources, materials, and programs. . Engage in professional learning and reflection. . Assist with development district curriculum, instruction and assessments. . Communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing. . Design and deliver quality professional development, including researched based instructional practices, for teachers and administrators at the campus andor district level.
