Primary Purpose:
Provides curriculum leadership and supports classroom teaching to ensure an aligned and articulated instructional program in Secondary Mathematics (6-12).
Qualifications:
Education and Certification Master's degree Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned Experience Three (3) years of teaching experience in secondary mathematics Two (2) years of experience as a campus or district administrator Special Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management Works cooperatively with directors and campus principals in developing and supervising the instructional programs in assigned subject area. Coordinates the review, development, and revision of all subject area programs and related curriculum documents and materials, including curriculum guides, course outlines, and teaching plans. Oversees testing programs for the assigned subject area and makes recommendations for improvement where appropriate. Coordinates the ordering and use of departmental instructional aids and materials for assigned subject area. Evaluates the curriculum and instruction program effectiveness for the assigned subject area based on evaluative findings (including student achievement data) and recommend changes as needed. Maintains a resource library of publications, supplementary materials, and supplies relevant to the assigned subject area. Participates in development, preparation, and administration of the budget for supplies, equipment, and facilities in area of assignment. Staff Development Plans and provides staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff in designated subject area. Disseminates information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in area assigned. Observes classroom instruction and provides feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrates teaching strategies with students in classroom.
Other Related Duties:
Conveys information to parents and community members about school programs. Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents required. Follows district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Participates in professional development, department meetings, and special events as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

APPOINTMENT
The appointment of this position will be recommended to the Board of Trustees by the Superintendent of Schools on the basis of the applicant's training, experience, and expertise. The Board of Trustees must give final approval.
