 26-27 JOB SUMMARY Designs and develops Houston ISD curriculum for grades 6 through 12 Reading Language Arts, ensuring alignment to TEKS and district instructional priorities. Emphasizes creation of high-quality, teacher-facing instructional materials, including slide decks, Demonstrations of Learning (DOLs), reading and writing tasks, and differentiated assignments aligned to daily learning objectives to support effective classroom implementation.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Designs and develops high-quality, TEKS-aligned 6-12 RLA curriculum within the district's instructional framework, including daily lesson materials, assessments (e.g., daily, formative, and summative), and scaffolded supports. 2. Creates differentiated literacy materials to support diverse learners, including scaffolds for reading comprehension and written expression 3. Ensures alignment to TEKS and best practices in secondary literacy instruction
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED 4.
Collaborates in PLCs/brain trust sessions and iterates deliverables to refine curriculum, ensure clarity, and improve instructional effectiveness 5. Ensures curriculum is rigorous, coherent, and actionable for teachers, and continuously improves materials based on student data, teacher feedback, and implementation outcomes. 6. Participates in professional learning to internalize standards and strengthen literacy curriculum design practices
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 3 years teaching or curriculum experience in secondary literacy
SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION
Software Oracle SAP Microsoft Office Teacher Certification (preferred)
Other:
Secondary literacy instruction, curriculum design Equipment Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier)
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Level 1-No supervisory responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice, and training to staff.
