Job Title:
Elementary Language Acquisition Specialist Position Summary The Elementary Language Acquisition Specialist works to advance student achievement at Elementary campuses for Emergent Bilinguals by providing direct instructional support to administrators, classroom teachers and other support staff. This role focuses on applying evidence-based strategies to improve language proficiency, support diverse learners and promote effective communication skills. Key Responsibilities
Direct Student Support:
Provide targeted push-in support for language development, making content accessible for language learners and increasing student achievement
Instructional Support:
Assist teachers with designing scaffolded lessons that simultaneously teach academic content and language objectives Provide guidance and support to instructional coaches and campus leaders through classroom visits, planning sessions, and collaborative discussions.
Data Analysis:
Monitor student progress using assessment data (e.g., TELPAS, K-12 Summit) to guide instruction and intervene with students as needed Track student & campus progress towards Emergent Bilingual growth & goals
Program Leadership:
Partners with Multilingual Administrator on best practices for instruction & compliance, leading those efforts on campus Collaboration & Communication Work closely with campus administrators, instructional coaches, and district leaders. Communicate expectations, updates, and best practices related to second language acquisition Support family and community engagement efforts related to Emergent Bilingual students Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Master's preferred). Valid Texas teaching certification required, including Bilingual or ESL supplemental Bilingual Spanish, preferred Minimum of 3-5 years of successful elementary teaching experience Demonstrated expertise in teaching Emergent Bilingual students Experience in Sheltered Instruction and ELPS implementation Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of language acquisition strategies Expertise in data analysis and instructional planning Effective coaching and adult learning facilitation skills Strong communication and collaboration abilities Knowledge of TELPAS and STAAR expectations Ability to manage multiple initiatives and support campuses effectively Working Conditions Travel between campuses required Occasional extended hours for training and district initiatives
