Job Description
Primary Purpose
To support the vision, mission, and strategic priorities of ESC Region 12. The Education Specialist serves as a high-level instructional leader and consultant for ESC Region 12. This role is responsible for driving academic excellence and compliance across the region by delivering research-based professional development and expert technical assistance specifically tailored to Speech-Language Pathology, auditory impairments, and related services.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
Master's degree in speech-language pathology
Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist
At least 3 years of relevant experience in an educational setting
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of speech, auditory impairments, assistive technology, and related services in an educational setting.
Excellent public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to speak effectively and deliver presentations before groups of participants
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Highly organized self-starter able to coordinate complex projects and manage program logistics through proactive problem-solving.
Ability to research/interpret complex special education policies and translate legal requirements into actionable insights for school districts A collaborative team player committed to a positive workplace culture and continuous improvement.
Dedicated to continuous personal and professional growth, including attending required professional development to remain a subject matter expert in the field.
General Responsibilities
Provide training and technical assistance in assistive technology, auditory impairment, related services, and associated areas to assist and support school personnel.
Keep Region 12 educators abreast of current trends and issues related to students with special needs, with an emphasis in speech, voice, or language disorders.
Participate in TEA-mandated network grant activities.
Collaborate with department staff, as well as staff members across all ESC departments, other regional ESCs, and state agencies.
Support internal ESC 12 functions and maintain a commitment to professional growth and subject matter expertise.

Benefit Information
ESC Region 12 provides monetary contribution up to $575 per month to use for employee/family healthcare and supplemental benefits.
Employee earns state personal, sick and vacation leave.
All employees contribute to both: Teachers Retirement System (TRS) and Social Security retirement programs
