DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for supporting the district's ESL program initiatives. This position coach teachers, models lessons, co-teaches, collaboratively plans, provides feedback to teachers, conducts professional development, and collaborates with administrators, as well as provides guidance and expertise in the best practices for successful language acquisition, specifically in the four language domain areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Coaches and supports teachers in planning, delivering, and assessing quality instruction for ELs. Plans, models, and co-teaches effectives lessons with teachers. Regularly visits classroom to provide feedback to teachers to improve instructional planning, delivery, and assessment, including planning for ongoing monitoring and support for successful language acquisition. Assists with the supervision and administration of the district's ESL program, including curriculum and instructional program. Analyzes ACCESS for ELs, and assessment data to identify areas for improvement, establish goals, and monitor improvement. Provides leadership and support in the development, implementation, and revisions of the ESL curriculum. Develops and conducts professional developments for teachers and administrators regarding instructional strategies and best practices for ELs. Coordinates and facilitates teacher study group activities and the sharing of successful lessons to ensure the successful implementation of the program. Meets regularly with EL TSA regarding classroom practices and ongoing feedback. Participates in on-going professional development by attending workshops, lectures, and institutes on specific subjects to enhance job performance such as knowledge in language acquisition, literacy development, coaching skills, and adult learning theory. Keeps abreast of all federal and state Title III and EL guidelines. Assist in ESL program presentations, professional development sessions, state assessments, and trainings as needed. Assists in planning and implementation of summer programs. Assists with the selection of textbooks, instructional materials, instructional resources, and equipment for the ESL program. Maintains detailed logs of support provided to schools.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Incumbent must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal background check Master's Degree Preferred (or currently in a program). Requires a valid Professional Educator License for the State of Utah Requires a Level 2 or above certification with minimum of five years successful experience ESL endorsement (required) Prior community-based experience with culturally diverse populations (preferred) Must be skilled in working with diverse groups, building consensus and maintaining focus on student needs Requires ability to communicate clearly orally and in written form Must be able to take initiative, work independently, be flexible and be a collaborative team player Must demonstrate highest standards of integrity, professionalism and respect for others
NOTE:
The Administration reserves the right to require specific training for this position. However, depending upon the type and quality of prior work experience and availability of formal training programs, some exchanges can be made between training and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel and must occasionally climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Physical ability to perform the essential functions listed above with or without reasonable accommodation.
