10 days of PTO Excellent low cost health, vision, dental insurance 6% of salary added to your 401K, immediate vesting Opportunities for professional development Excellent coworkers Position Summary The Instructional Coach at Mountain Sunrise Academy plays a pivotal role in supporting teacher growth and student success. This position focuses on enhancing teaching practices across all grade levels by providing job-embedded coaching, facilitating professional learning, and supporting the alignment of curriculum to both Waldorf developmental models and Utah State Standards. The ideal candidate is a master educator with strong knowledge of the Science of Reading, the latest research in math instruction, and a deep appreciation for creative, child-centered pedagogy. They are able to bridge innovative, evidence-based instructional strategies with Waldorf's imaginative and artistic approach to learning. Key ResponsibilitiesInstructional Coaching & Teacher Support Provide one-on-one and small-group coaching to teachers across grade levels using an observation-feedback-reflection cycle. Model effective instructional strategies in real classrooms, co-teach lessons, and support lesson planning and delivery. Use data-driven conversations to help teachers improve classroom practice and student outcomes. Support the integration of Waldorf methodology (e.g., block teaching, artistic integration, storytelling, movement) with Utah Core Standards. Curriculum Alignment & Instructional Design Assist teachers in designing and adapting curriculum that meets both the developmental needs of children and grade-level expectations. Help ensure fidelity to both the Roadmap to Literacy and Science of Reading-aligned instructional practices. Guide teachers in unit and block planning, formative assessment design, and differentiation strategies. Maintain and curate instructional resources and planning tools that reflect best practices in both Waldorf education and state standards. Literacy Leadership Lead schoolwide implementation of structured literacy approaches that align with the Science of Reading. Train and coach teachers on phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension strategies, especially in early grades. Support ongoing integration of multisensory, developmentally appropriate reading practices that fit within the Waldorf framework. Math Leadership Provide expertise in math instruction grounded in conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and student reasoning. Support use of Singapore Math and other research-based math programs that align with visual, concrete, and abstract learning progressions. Coach teachers in planning and delivering high-quality math instruction that incorporates movement, story, and hands-on learning where appropriate. Professional Development & School Culture Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) and workshops on instructional best practices. Collaborate with administrators to identify teacher needs and design targeted support systems. Participate in the development of school improvement plans and data analysis efforts. Contribute to a positive, collegial school culture rooted in shared purpose, imagination, and growth. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education (Master's preferred) Valid Utah Educator License Minimum 3 years of successful teaching experience; instructional coaching or mentoring experience preferred in an elementary school setting Deep understanding of Waldorf pedagogy or willingness to undergo Waldorf-specific training Expertise in structured literacy and Science of Reading-aligned practices Knowledge of effective, research-based math instruction and conceptual frameworks such as Singapore Math Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster trust, build relationships, and inspire others Excellent organizational, communication, and facilitation skills To apply: email Carrie Hoelzer, carrie.hoelzer@mountainsunriseacademy.org, send your resume, cover letter and 2 letters of recommendation
