Full Job Description Overview:
The YMCA is seeking Volleyball Youth Sports Clinic Instructors . This role will instruct and implement lesson plans. Organize area in which safety and overall appearance work well. Organize groups of participants through different drills and activities, making sure the overall program runs smoothly, including starting and ending according to schedules made by the Director. Clinic coaches must have significant knowledge of the sport and/or experience coaching or playing sports to advise participants and coaches. Be able to organize groups of people effectively as well as know how to break down a skill and explain it so that participants can understand and perform the skill. Instructors must communicate and work with a variety of people including participants, staff, and community members. Youth Sports Clinic Instructors are part time. Clinics are generally scheduled Monday nights 5:00-8:00PM. The salary range is $15.00-$18.00 per hour based on experience, availability and certifications. In addition, we offer a +10% differential for bilingual staff who test as fluent in Spanish and English. Responsibilities:
Teach introductory through intermediate skills, rules of play and the Y Way to Play using your own and provided lesson plans. Assist in officiating, including parent interaction. Ensure clinics run smoothly and safely with all activities starting and ending on schedule. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Age 16 years or older. Significant involvement and understanding of the sport. CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 30 days. Know how to break down a skill and explain it so that participants can understand and perform the skill. Ability to organize and engage groups of children. Ability to communicate and work with a variety of people including kids, staff, other host staff, and community members.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/FUNCTIONAL ATTRIBUTES
Physical Activities List Stooping:
Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
Kneeling:
Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
Standing:
Particularly for sustained periods of time.
Walking:
Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
Running:
moving about on foot and a higher rate of speed then walking to accomplish tasks.
Lifting:
Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
Talking:
Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Hearing:
Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound. Visual Acuity The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.) Working Conditions The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside. The worker is subject to extreme heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than an hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions such as wind and humidity. The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
