Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Provides direct supervision, a safe and nurturing environment for children in the nursery/child watch program. Responsible for providing a quality experience for children through planning and leading age-appropriate activities consistent with the YMCA mission and core values. Responsible for the cleanliness of all used program areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Actively engaged with children or a group of children. 2. Plan and implement program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. 3. Attend to the physical needs of the children. 4. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards. 5. Attends staff meetings and staff development opportunities. 6. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies. 7. Monitor parent sign-in and sign-out forms daily. Submit forms daily to the Program Director. 8. Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills including Listen First in all interactions. 9. Supports The Y's Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Standards (HEPA), encouraging children, adult,s and families to adopt a healthy lifestyle and role-models the standards. 10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Minimum age requirement - 18 years of age. 2. High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred. 3. Previous experience working with children. 4. CPR, First Aid, & AED certifications required within 30 days of employment. 5. Complete YMCA New Employee Orientation e-learning course. 6. Complete YMCA Policy and Procedures for New Employees within 60 days of employment. 7. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position will require sudden movements, such as standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, running, and lifting (up to 30 pounds). Ability to plan, lead, and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
