The Bath Area Family YMCA is looking for enthusiastic Youth Flag Football Instructors to help lead our growing football programming! This is not a hyper-competitive coaching position focused only on winning games. We're looking for someone who can teach fundamentals, encourage teamwork, and make practices feel like the best part of a kid's week. The ideal candidate brings the vibe of a great camp counselor, PE teacher, or youth mentor; Someone who can balance structure, positivity, and FUN. Our programs focus on skill development, movement, confidence building, sportsmanship, and creating a welcoming environment for athletes of all experience levels. Many participants are brand new to football, so enthusiasm and patience matter far more than elite playing experience.
What You'll Do:
Lead and assist with youth flag football clinics, camps, and classes Teach fundamentals including throwing, catching, routes, defense, agility, and teamwork Run fun drills, games, and activities that keep kids constantly moving Create a safe, welcoming, and encouraging environment Set up and break down equipment before and after classes Communicate positively with parents, participants, and YMCA staff Help reinforce YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility Who Would Be a
Great Fit:
Future teachers, coaches, recreation staff, or camp counselors College or high school students with strong leadership skills Former athletes who enjoy working with kids Individuals with high energy and a positive attitude People who can manage "organized chaos" with patience and enthusiasm You do NOT need to be a former varsity quarterback to succeed in this role. If you can motivate kids, create positive experiences, and bring excitement onto the field, we'd love to hear from you.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work with parents and children from 5 - 11 years old. Able to effectively communicate with parents and staff. Certified in First Aid and CPR (training available on site) Excellent written and oral communication skills. High attention to detail. Knowledgeable about Y processes and procedures. Ability to work with integrity, discretion, and a professional approach.
