Summit, NJ Job Details Full-time $60,000 - $85,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications School experience Bachelor's degree Classroom Teaching Full Job Description Kent Place School is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, dynamic Dance educator to teach students in grades 9-12. We believe that creativity is an essential skill for all students, and we are seeking an educator excited to help us open our new Dance Studio by the fall of 2027. The ideal candidate will inspire creativity, technical growth, collaboration, and artistic expression while fostering an inclusive and disciplined learning environment. This position includes teaching dance technique, choreography, performance preparation, and dance appreciation/history. The ideal candidate would look forward to collaborating with performing arts colleagues and the broader school community. Responsibilities include Teaching dance courses to students in grades 9 - 12, across multiple levels and styles. Developing engaging lesson plans/curriculum aligned with curriculum standards and school goals Choreographing and directing student performances and showcases Assessing student learning and providing ongoing feedback and support Promoting physical safety, wellness, and proper dance technique Building an inclusive classroom culture that supports students of varying skill levels and backgrounds Maintaining dance studio equipment, music, costumes, and instructional materials Skills and Qualifications Expertise in multiple dance genres Demonstrated experience with curriculum development Proficiency in Google Suite. Demonstrated cultural competency. Collaboration and Community Interest in leading activities and performances that broaden participation in the Performing Arts. Ability to collaborate with colleagues across performing arts and academic departments Enthusiasm for serving as advisor for 8-10 students in the upper school and participating in community events. Required and Preferred Background A bachelor's degree in Dance, Dance Education, or a related field is required. A master's degree in Dance Education, a related field, or Education/Teaching is preferred. A minimum of 3 years of prior teaching experience, preferably with high school-aged students Kent Place School is an equal opportunity employer.
