Job Description:
Whether youre leading a youth summer camp, a learn-to-belay clinic, or a team-building session, you adapt to your group and deliver instruction that is clear, engaging, and rooted in real climbing craft. You represent 5.Lifes core values every time you step on the floor. Reports to the Adult Program Manager Responsibilities Guest Experience Welcome participants warmly and create an inclusive, encouraging environment from the first moment Communicate program updates, schedule changes, and facility news to participants and guardians Engage authentically with every clientremember names, celebrate milestones, and make people feel like they belong here Maintain a strong floor presence; treat the facility the way youd welcome guests into your own home Instruction & Coaching Execute lesson plans and class flows that meet participants where they are and push them forward Coach assigned groups with emphasis on skill development, rope management, and current industry best practices Adapt creatively to a wide range of clients, abilities, and situationsno two sessions look exactly the same Facilitate clear, calm communication during moments of high risk, disengagement, or conflict between participants Bring energy and enthusiasm to every session; model a growth mindset by showing that falling isnt failing Risk Management Manage risk in keeping with current industry standards and 5.Life protocols at all times Conduct thorough equipment checks before and after each session; flag worn or damaged gear immediately Maintain current CPR/First Aid/AED certification and act as a first responder when needed Hold and maintain Safe Sport certification; uphold 5.Lifes commitment to participant protection Identify and address hazards proactivelyown the environment youre working in Operations Complete all pre- and post-shift tasks as assigned by the Facility Manager, on time and without reminders Maintain excellent program equipment and report maintenance needs promptly Arrive punctual and prepared; your group is counting on you before the session starts Support fellow staff and contribute to a positive team culture across the 5.Life community Results Participants leave every session having learned something, felt supported, and wanting to return Lesson plans are executed consistently and adjusted fluidly when the group calls for it Risk is managed proactivelyincidents are rare, and when they occur, they are handled calmly and correctly Equipment is well-maintained and accounted for; no sessions are delayed due to gear issues Participant retention and satisfaction scores trend upward within your assigned programs Feedback from Facility Managers reflects reliability, professionalism, and continuous improvement You are recognized by peers, participants, and families as a positive role model in the climbing community Requirements You Must Have Minimum 18 years of age Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or willingness to obtain before first shift) Safe Sport certification (or willingness to obtain before working with minors) Ability to work with participants of any age, background, or ability level Patience, maturity, and dependabilityyour group counts on you showing up and showing up ready Strong communication skills and the ability to stay calm and clear under pressure Commitment to 5.
