Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking an energetic and passionate Early Childhood Dance & Movement Instructor to inspire and nurture young children aged 2 to 5 through engaging dance and movement activities. In this role, you will create a lively, supportive environment that encourages creativity, physical development, and self-expression. You will design age-appropriate lesson plans that incorporate various movement styles, including ballet and theater, while fostering a love for dance and physical activity in early learners. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on children's growth and development through movement-based learning. Duties Develop and implement dynamic dance and movement curricula tailored for preschool-aged children, integrating elements of ballet, theater, and creative movement. Lead engaging classes that promote physical coordination, rhythm, balance, and social skills among young learners. Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment conducive to learning and exploration. Incorporate storytelling, music, photography, and theatrical activities to enhance children's understanding of movement concepts. Collaborate with parents and caregivers to provide updates on children's progress and suggest ways to support their development at home. Maintain organized lesson plans, classroom materials, and progress records to ensure smooth class operations. Utilize skills in childcare, early childhood education, and behavior management to address individual needs and foster positive classroom dynamics. Qualifications Experience working with children ages 2-5. Dance, education, childcare, or early childhood experience preferred. Positive, patient, and nurturing personality. Reliable transportation is required. Ability to travel to various locations throughout Philadelphia. Must be willing to obtain required background clearances. Skills Strong background in early childhood education with experience working with preschool children in classroom settings. Proficiency in curriculum development tailored for young learners' developmental stages. Excellent teaching abilities with a focus on classroom management and behavior guidance. Knowledge of dance styles such as ballet, creative movement, and theater arts; experience in choreography is a plus. Ability to incorporate arts-related activities like photography or sewing into movement lessons for enhanced engagement. Experience in lesson planning that aligns with childhood development milestones and educational standards. Familiarity with special education practices to adapt lessons for children with diverse learning needs. Passion for working with children, fostering their growth through playful yet structured activities that promote physical health and emotional well-being.
