Immediately Job Description Job Overview The Summer in the Arts Cookie Decorating instructor will teach students the fundamentals of cookie decorating using royal icing. The instructor will guide students through key techniques, including icing consistencies (stiff, medium, flood), coloring methods, and piping techniques such as border/fill, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, and marbling. This class focuses on creativity, precision, and having fun in a structured, beginner-friendly environment. Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons aligned with course descriptions Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment Adapt instruction to meet a range of student abilities Maintain organization of materials and workspace Communicate effectively with program staff and students Qualifications Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable. Education Must hold a valid Virginia teaching license endorsement in the assigned instructional course Experience Licenses and Certifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Physical Requirements The following provides a brief description of physical requirements for this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. The employee must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
