Our studio is dedicated to providing exceptional dance education and fostering a love for dance among our students. With a passionate team and a commitment to excellence, we strive to create a positive and inspiring environment for dancers of all ages and skill levels. At Chattanooga Dance Theatre we focus to build skills, confidence, and friendships through classes, performances, and social events. The position of dance teacher requires a high-energy candidate that cares deeply about dance education. Responsibilities of the role will include : Teaching dance classes throughout the week Working and assisting the events manager with social events 5-8 times per year Taking photos and posting to social media Choreographing for School Showcase and Performance Company productions Attending four teacher training sessions and meetings throughout the year. Filling out evaluations of students every Spring Promoting Chattanooga Dance Theatre throughout the community Assisting backstage at all major productions including
Nooga Nutcracker, Spring Gala, and School Showcase Requirements:
To excel in this role, we are seeking individuals who align with our studio's values and possess the following qualifications: Must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or the equivalent Passion for dance and teaching Intermediate or advanced training in dance, specifically in one or more of these areas: ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, acro Enthusiasm to continue learning and improving Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with partners, fellow staff members, students, and parents. BA or BFA in Dance a plus Experience with childcare a plus
Key Priorities and Metrics:
Hold dance classes with proper presence and control of class. Teach classes that hold dancers interest and cover all vocabulary on the assigned syllabus Promote Chattanooga Dance Theatre in the community Set creative and entertaining choreography with music and program notes turned in on deadlines. Schedule and Availability Teach 1-5 evenings a week and/or Saturday mornings, Some classes may be held weekday mornings Must be available 10-20 weekend afternoon and evenings throughout the year for events and performances, some on Sunday, most on Saturday.
Pay and Benefits:
Competitive starting pay $25-$40 per class on W2, depending on previous education and experience. Raises will be analyzed yearly, and given based on growth. Administrative work $13 per hour Monthly reimbursement for music subscription such as Spotify or Apple Music Opportunity for raises and promotions yearly based on excellent performance Professional development opportunities Free dance class tuition for self and discounted dance classes for spouses and dependents 30% discount at The Batterie One free pair of teaching shoes per year
