Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., plus scheduled events with required attendance. Overview An educator with a passion for working with high school age students, an engaging teaching style, and a commitment to the overall growth of students at St. Pius X High School and furthering the School's Mission including strategic initiatives on community and inclusion. An individual who is innovative and reflective, open to feedback, and eager for professional collaboration. Mission P rayer, Study, Community, Preaching - this is Dominican education at St. Pius X High School. Inspired by Veritas , young men and women embrace academic excellence and integrity, celebrate the community's diverse gifts and heritage, and embody social justice and service. Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based dance instruction across assigned courses. Teach technique, choreography, performance skills, and dance theory appropriate to grade level. Develop and implement curriculum that fosters creativity, discipline, and artistic expression. Choreograph and prepare students for performances, showcases, and school events. Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback. Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment. Teach student leadership course focused on communication, collaboration, service, and character development. Facilitate reflection and growth through projects, discussions, and real-world applications. Support students in taking ownership of school culture and community-building initiatives. Collaborate with administration and student leaders to plan, coordinate, and facilitate student gatherings, assemblies, and celebrations during the school day. Follow the faculty expectations outlined in St. Pius X Employee Handbook. Engage in spiritual formation programming. Serve as a student advisor. Moderate, direct, coach, or lead an organized student group, activity, or sport. Be familiar with and enforce Student Handbook policies. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust strategies. Prepare required reports on students and activities. Participate in department, school, and parent meetings. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and needs. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities. Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests and assignments in a timely fashion and update systems accordingly. Communicate and partner with parents in a timely manner. Participate in student/faculty activities (such as retreats, advisory, faculty meetings, in-service) Follow school emergency procedures. Other duties as deemed necessary by the Department Chair, Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction, Principal, or President. Qualifications and Experience Commitment to embrace the Catholic Mission and Dominican Charism at St. Pius X High School. Completion of Safe Haven environment training. Experience teaching in an independent or Catholic school is preferred. Minimum of bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred. Teaching certificate or twelve credit hours in education courses. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office and other basic technology needed to enhance the learning experience and effectively communicate. Professional attitude and appearance.
