You just might be the person we are looking for if you have:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate (Dance and Physical Education)
Knowledge of overall dance and physical education TEKS
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
At least one year student teaching and previous dance experience
The mission of this role:
Provide students with the appropriate learning activities and experiences to be exposed to all fine arts movement experiences. Ensure compliance with all state, Texas Dance Educators Association (TDEA), and district requirements. Be active in the planning and instruction of dance activities to provide students the basic knowledge of dance movement upon completion of JH Dance.
Be active in the planning and administration of dance activities in accordance with campus and district expectations.
What success looks like for this role:
Work in a cooperative partnership with High School Dance Educators and assist if needed.
Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to determine program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responds to student needs.
Recommend policies to improve program.
Attend all professional and staff meetings as requested.
Assist in the development and implementation of plans for dance program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, local school board policies, and administrative regulations including, but not limited to, the established Katy ISD curriculum for subject area.
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Apply and enforce student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
Maintain professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Assist with recruitment and training for all HS fine arts programs.
Assist in the planning and organization of dance concerts/recitals.
