Job Description
Mission:
to educate students in a public-private partnership and improve their academic performance, self-esteem, and character using the golf course as a living classroom. The primary goal is to increase high school graduation rates. The Chi Chi Rodriguez Youth Foundation is the principal operator of two educational programs: the Chi Chi Rodriguez Academy and First Tee - Clearwater, as well as two public businesses: the Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Club and Chi Chi Rodriguez Driving Range. The target group for foundation's activities is children ranging in ages from 7 to 17. We currently serve more than 3,600 children in our programs. Up to one hundred and twenty-six (126) of those are students that attend the Chi Chi Academy, a privately supported public school in partnership with the Pinellas County School Board for students who have been identified as at-risk of dropping out of school.POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director supports the Academy Director in the day-to-day leadership and operations of a partnership school serving students in Pinellas County. This position plays a critical role in fostering a safe, structured, and high-achieving academic environment while maintaining alignment with the expectations and standards of both the school's organizational leadership and Pinellas County Schools. The Assistant Director serves as a key instructional leader, student culture champion, and operational partner to the Director.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Instructional Leadership Supports the implementation of a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum for grades 5-8. Conducts regular classroom observations and provides timely, actionable feedback to teachers. Collaborate with instructional staff to analyze student performance data and drive continuous improvement. Assists in planning and facilitating professional development. Student Culture & Discipline Leads the school's student culture and climate initiatives, ensuring a positive, structured, and restorative environment. Manages student conduct, handles disciplinary matters in accordance with school policy and the Pinellas County Code of Student Conduct, and maintains accurate disciplinary records. Develops and oversees systems for attendance, behavior, and social-emotional support. Operations & Administration Assists the Director in daily school operations, including scheduling, staffing coverage, and facility coordination. Serves as acting Director in the Director's absence. Supports compliance with all Pinellas County Schools partnership agreement requirements, state regulations, and accreditation standards. Assists with enrollment, family communication, and community engagement efforts. Family & Community Engagement Builds strong, trust-based relationships with families of students in grades 5-8. Communicates proactively with parents and guardians regarding academic progress, behavioral concerns, and school events. Represents the school at community and district meetings as needed. Staff Support & Development Partners with the Director to recruit, onboard, and retain high-quality instructional and support staff. Supports the evaluation process and contributes to a collaborative, mission-driven school culture. Mentor's teachers and staff, particularly those in their early years of practice. Performing other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ANDABILITIES
) Required Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field Florida Educator Certificate or eligibility (Educational Leadership preferred) Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience, preferably in middle grades (5-8) Demonstrated experience in student culture management and restorative practices Strong knowledge of Florida's middle school instructional standards (NGSSS/B.E.S.T.) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, urban school environment Preferred Master's degree in Educational Leadership or Administration Prior experience in an administrative or instructional coaching role Familiarity with Pinellas County Schools partnership school requirements and structure Experience with data-driven instruction andMTSS/RTI
frameworks Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus Work Environment & Schedule This is a full-time, 12-month position. The Assistant Director is expected to be present during all school hours and may be required to attend evening or weekend events including family engagement nights, school board meetings, and community functions Drug test and background check will be completed before starting.Job Type:
