Job Description

Position Overview The Student Support Director (SSD) provides visionary leadership for student support at The Waldorf School of Atlanta. Through collaboration with teachers, the Student Support Team, families, and outside professionals, the SSD coordinates holistic support of students, informed by Waldorf pedagogical and therapeutic indications and complemented by mainstream educational support practices. Core Responsibilities Leadership and program development of the Educational Support offerings at WSA Leadership of the faculty Student Care Committee Student assessment and progress monitoring Documentation and communication of student support needs, plans, and progress Coordination of the Student Support Team, including School Counselor and Reading Support Specialist, and work with outside providers Teacher support and professional development related to meeting student needs Qualifications Master's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education (Ed.

S), or related field preferred; bachelor's degree minimum Waldorf teacher and/or therapeutic certification strongly preferred Experience Minimum 3-5 years working with students with learning differences Supervisory experience in an educational setting Experience developing and implementing a successful educational support program Experience with 504 plans, IEPs, and knowledge of related laws and regulations Experience with assessments for math, language arts, gross/fine motor skills, and ADHD/behavioral supports Knowledge and Skills Understanding of anthroposophical picture of child development and how it applies to educational support Knowledge of educational and developmental milestones and differential learning experience Demonstrated understanding of diverse teaching strategies across the curriculum Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with teachers, parents, and outside professionals in a clear and timely manner Ability to interpret mainstream test results including IQ, achievement, and learning disability diagnostic assessments Detail-oriented, organized, skilled communicator and facilitator
