Job Description

The Archdiocese of Chicago, the third largest in the United States, serves more than 2.2 million Catholics in 216 parishes in Cook County and Lake County, a geographic area of 1,411 square miles. The Archdiocese, pastored by Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, has more than 13,000 employees in its systems and ministries, including Catholic Charities, the region's largest nonprofit social service agency. The Archdiocese also has one of the country's largest seminaries. The Archdiocese's 150+ elementary and secondary schools comprise one of the largest U.S. private school systems. Its schools have received 96 U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Awards. The Director of Leadership Formation will have significant opportunities to design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive leadership formation framework to strengthen leadership practices for aspiring and current principals with an aim to recruit, support, continually form, and retain principals in our schools. This professional will work closely with the Associate Director of Leadership Formation, the Leadership Coaches, and members of the School Specialist team to elevate the quality of leadership in our schools. This professional will increase educator understanding of Catholic school mission, OCS root beliefs, and leadership practices related to the system-wide goals. The Director of Leadership Formation actively supports, demonstrates, and models a passion for the Catholic school mission, education, and leadership. Responsibilities Design, implement, and evaluate formation experiences for aspiring principals to ensure a pipeline of high-quality principal candidates is created. Design, implement, and evaluate system-wide professional development for current principals to strengthen leadership, teaching, and learning in support of OCS goals. Drive the overall leadership formation strategy to ensure the leadership capacity of all aspiring and current principals is elevated. Coach a cohort of aspiring and/or current principals to improve leadership practices. Supervise the Associate Director of Leadership Formation. Collaborate closely with OCS staff, principals, and other stakeholders to achieve OCS goals. Requirements Master's degree in educational leadership (or equivalent field). A minimum of three years full-time experience in school administration. Proven ability to design and deliver effective, engaging, research-based learning experiences for adult learners. Skilled in providing constructive feedback, coaching strategies, and mentorship to support leadership development. Valid Illinois driver's license and reliable transportation The Archdiocese of Chicago offers a comprehensive total rewards package to include competitive compensation and benefit programs. Information about our benefit programs is available here . This position has an annualized salary range of - $85,207.64 - $108,639.74. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
