Full-Time Position Summary Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park Elementary is seeking a highly effective and results-driven K-8 Building Instructional Coach, preferably with a strong background in mathematics instruction. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of improving student achievement on state assessments such as IAR or similar state tests in other states. The Instructional Coach will support teachers in strengthening instructional practices, using data effectively, implementing standards-based instruction, and improving student outcomes across grade levels. This position requires a collaborative educator who can coach, model, analyze data, lead professional development, and support teachers through consistent feedback and instructional planning. Key Responsibilities Provide instructional coaching and support to K-8 teachers, with a strong focus on math instruction and student achievement. Support teachers in planning standards-aligned, rigorous, and engaging lessons. Analyze student achievement data, including IAR, STAR, benchmark assessments, classroom assessments, and other school-based data. Help teachers use data to identify student gaps, plan interventions, and monitor progress. Model effective instructional strategies in classrooms. Conduct classroom observations and provide timely, actionable feedback to teachers. Support lesson planning, pacing, differentiation, small-group instruction, and intervention planning. Assist teachers in implementing best practices for math discourse, problem-solving, critical thinking, and standards-based instruction. Collaborate with administration to identify school-wide instructional needs and areas for improvement. Lead professional development sessions based on teacher needs, school goals, and student performance data. Support new and developing teachers through mentoring, coaching cycles, and regular check-ins. Help ensure alignment between curriculum, instruction, assessments, and state standards. Promote a positive, professional, and growth-oriented school culture. Work with grade-level teams and departments to strengthen collaboration and instructional consistency. Support test preparation efforts while maintaining strong, meaningful instruction throughout the year. Required Qualifications Valid teaching license or appropriate educational certification. Minimum of 3-5 years of successful classroom teaching experience. Strong background in K-8 instruction, preferably in mathematics. Proven track record of improving student performance on state assessments such as IAR, PARCC, STAAR, OST, FAST, or similar state assessments. Strong understanding of state standards, curriculum alignment, assessment practices, and instructional best practices. Experience analyzing assessment data and using it to improve instruction. Ability to coach teachers professionally and respectfully. Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, students, and families. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, Mathematics Education, or a related field. Previous experience as an instructional coach, department chair, mentor teacher, grade-level lead, or teacher leader. Strong knowledge of math intervention strategies and data-driven instruction. Demonstrated success with diverse learners, including multilingual learners and students with IEPs. Experience leading professional development for teachers. Familiarity with STAR, iReady, IAR, NWEA MAP, or other benchmark and state assessment systems. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a strong instructional leader who believes that teacher growth directly impacts student success. This person should be able to build trust with teachers, provide practical support, analyze data effectively, and help move instruction forward. The candidate should be comfortable working in classrooms, leading meetings, supporting lesson planning, and helping teachers improve student outcomes. Expectations The K-8 Building Instructional Coach is expected to be visible, supportive, data-driven, and student-centered. This role requires someone who can balance coaching, accountability, collaboration, and instructional leadership. The coach should be committed to helping teachers grow while supporting the school's academic goals and overall mission.
