Executive Director of Human Resources Subject:
Developers for an Extending the Learning Course on English Learners and Students with Disabilities As part of the district's support for educators to meet the requirements for MA DESE license renewal, this course will be designed for instructors to facilitate this course, routinely in the future, dependent on funding. This course will be designed to meet the following requirements: (a) At least 15 PDPs related to SEI or English as a Second Language. (b) At least 15 PDPs related to training in strategies for effective schooling for students with disabilities and instruction of students with diverse learning styles. If you are interested in an opportunity to work with a group of BPS staff in developing a course that satisfies the above requirements, please apply through School Spring. Courses must focus on Brockton's instructional priorities•positive relationships, effective instruction, and active reading and writing.
Minimum Qualifications:
1.Teaching or administrator license from the MA DESE in Special Education and/or English as a Second Language or Transitional Bilingual Education. 2.Successful experience working with students who receive Special Education services and/or English language learners. 3.Experience leading professional development, facilitating adult teams in professional learning capacities, or teaching adults in a similar environment. 4.Demonstrated skills in communication, organization, and team building.
Responsibilities:
1.Design a professional development course that explores the overlapping instructional needs of Students with Disabilities and English Language Learners and provides strategies to support their academic success. 2.Ensure that the course fulfills the requirements for a 30-PDP professional development activity. 3.Incorporate strategies and research from different grade levels and content areas. 4.Incorporate engaging and interactive activities. 5.Ensure teachers and administrators leave the course with concrete, actionable strategies they can implement immediately in their practice. 6.Explicitly incorporate opportunities for teachers and administrators to apply course content through practical, classroom and school-based strategies.
Compensation:
Dependent on FY27 funding According to contract•10 hours per committee member. Number of hours may be increased if the committee is less than 10 members.
