Job Description

The Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) seeks a visionary, social-justice-oriented leader to guide all instructional efforts for the Department of Youth Services (DYS) Education Initiative. This Director will strategically drive multi-year efforts across Massachusetts to strengthen real-world and relevant learning experiences that prepare middle-school to post-secondary-aged justice-involved youth for social and economic mobility. We require a leader dedicated to and experienced in advancing student-centered learning, cultural responsiveness, and systemic innovation to improve educational outcomes. Inclusiveness, equity, and diversity Quality and excellence Innovation, creativity, and vision Collaboration and a commitment to creating a community of care As the Director of Teaching, Learning, and Innovation for the DYS Education Initiative, you will: Ensure all educational initiatives are aligned, focused, and responsive to the strengths and complex profiles of our diverse student body. Lead the design, development, and evaluation of high-quality, culturally sustaining curricula, with a strategic focus on the academic development of English and Multilingual Learners (MLs). Ensure all frameworks prioritize literacy across the curriculum, embedding reading, writing, and critical thinking skills within all academic, enrichment, and vocational offerings. Design, iterate, and monitor the resources required for ambitious student-centered programming, including a balanced assessment system (formative, summative, and interim) that prioritizes meaningful learning over testing. Oversee a comprehensive professional learning strategy that includes supporting high-impact instructional coaching, learning teams, and other mechanisms for advancing our student-centered and personalized approach to teaching and learning. Advance a student-centered approach to teaching and learning across all settings and engage internal staff, host agencies, community partners, and state stakeholders to strengthen the coordination and success of the DYS/CES educational initiative. Friday Salary Range:
$100,000 to $150,000 We expect candidates hired into this position to begin in the $100,000 to $125,000 range.
