In this district-wide leadership role, the Curriculum Supervisor of Mathematics drives the development,implementation, and continuous improvement of a high-quality, coherent, and equitable mathematicsprogram aligned with the Massachusetts Mathematics Curriculum Frameworks and the Standards forMathematical Practice. The Supervisor leads curriculum review and revision to ensure vertical andhorizontal alignment across all grade levels, and ensures that curriculum, instruction, and assessmentpractices are culturally responsive, inclusive, and accessible to all learners, including English Learnersand students with disabilities.
The Supervisor analyzes district, school, and classroom-level data to identify trends and guideinstructional decision-making, and collaborates closely with district and school administrators,curriculum leaders, and teachers to strengthen mathematics teaching and learning at every level. Thisposition carries direct supervisory responsibility for mathematics educators, including observation,coaching, and evaluation in accordance with Massachusetts Educator Evaluation regulations. TheSupervisor also plays a central role in building professional capacity across the district by designingand facilitating ongoing, job-embedded professional learning, managing departmental budgets andgrants, and supporting the recruitment and onboarding of mathematics educators.Qualifications:
Massachusetts teaching certification in Mathematics, requiredMassachusetts licensure as a Supervisor/Director, Principal/Assistant Principal, or equivalent, requiredSheltered English Immersion (SEI) Administrator Endorsement, requiredMaster's Degree or higher in Curriculum Leadership, Mathematics Education, Educational Leadership, or a related fieldMinimum of five (5) years of successful mathematics teaching experienceDemonstrated experience as an instructional coach, curriculum leader, or mathematics specialistDuties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership to create and sustain a district culture of high expectations for mathematics teaching and learning at all levelsLead and coordinate district-wide curriculum review and revision to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across all grade levels, with a focus on a comprehensive and coherent mathematics programEnsure mathematics curriculum is standards-aligned, culturally responsive, inclusive, and accessible to all learners, including English Learners and students with disabilitiesCollaborate with district and building administrators, Curriculum Team Leaders, and teachers on matters of mathematics curriculum, instruction, and assessmentServe as the district's primary instructional coach for mathematics, providing ongoing, content-specific coaching at all levelsSupport building principals in the supervision and evaluation of mathematics educators, serving as a content expert and resourceModel effective instructional strategies and co-teach or demonstrate lessons as needed to support teacher developmentDesign, plan, and facilitate ongoing, job-embedded professional learning opportunities for mathematics educators across all levelsLead district-wide Mathematics Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and curriculum committees focused on continuous improvementSupport new teacher induction, mentoring, and professional growth in mathematicsAnalyze district, school, and classroom-level assessment data to identify trends, monitor progress, and guide instructional decision-makingSupport alignment of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and grading practices across all levelsServe as a member of the district leadership team, contributing to district-wide instructional initiatives and strategic planningCollaborate with other curriculum supervisors and district leaders to ensure interdisciplinary alignment and coherenceParticipate in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of elementary and secondary mathematics educatorsDevelop, manage, and monitor departmental budgets and grants related to mathematics curriculum and instructionEvaluate instructional materials, programs, and educational technologies for effectiveness and alignment with district standardsBuild partnerships with community organizations, higher education institutions, and professional associations to enhance mathematics programmingStay current with research, best practices, and emerging trends in mathematics education, instructional technology, and assessmentPerform any additional tasks as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools
