Assistant Superintendent for Well-Being & Community SystemsAvailable July 1, 2026Shrewsbury Public Schools is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Superintendent for Well-Being & Community Systems. This senior leadership role responsible for the strategic integration of well-being, social-emotional learning (SEL), and community ecosystem partnerships to enhance well-being for students and staff, using data-informed practices to ensure that student well-being is a measurable driver of academic success, building and maintaining a robust, culturally proficient support network involving families, businesses, and various interest groups aligned with strategic goals in order to enhance opportunities and support for student learning experiences, and more.

Organizational Relationship:
Works alongside the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and the AssistantSuperintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment to ensure SEL is a corecomponent of the Tier 1/ Tier II instructional framework. Works collaboratively with principals and other district leaders Supervises or co-supervises positions within the district as determined by collective bargaining agreements and/or district organizational needs (including but not limited to the Director of Health, Physical Education, & Family Consumer Science; the Director of Extended Learning; and the Director of Career Technical Education) Supervises or co-supervises Central Office staff who support this positionsfunctions (including but not limited to the Director of Alumni Development &Community Relationships)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Data-Informed Practice & Strategic Leadership Establishes and monitors a "Well-Being Dashboard" utilizing data from the Regional Youth Health Survey, attendance records, disciplinary trends, SEL universal screeners, and other pertinent information to identify systemic needs. Evaluates the efficacy of well-being interventions and community programs, utilizing data to determine ROI on projects and alternative revenue spends. Prepares data-rich reports for the School Committee that connect well-being metrics (e.g., sense of belonging, SEL surveys, etc.) to student engagement and achievement. Oversees the K-12 Health, Physical Education, and Family Consumer Sciences Department and ensures curriculum and programming advance the districts goals for well-being Oversees extended learning programming in order to enhance programs and curriculum beyond the regular school day and year that support well-being and evolving community needs 2.
PK-12 SEL
Oversight Provides executive oversight and collaboration with leadership (i.e., asst. superintendents, principals, Director of Counseling & Mental Health Services, counselors, teachers) in the implementation and vertical alignment of PreK-12 Social Emotional Learning curricula for Tier I and Tier II. Leads or participates in project work that actively supports the progress of district strategic priorities and goals related to student and staff well-being Coordinates and oversees districtwide
PBIS, SEL
curriculum (e.g., Wayfinder), and related initiatives, including supervision of PBIS leads or other educator leadership initiatives and alignment of these efforts across schools. Collaborates with Central Office leadership to develop, implement, monitor plans, and budget required by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education related to SEL, ensuring coordination of systems, timelines, and reporting requirements Oversees anti-bullying training, initiatives, and coordinates responses to student concerns, serving as the Title IX Coordinator. Designs professional development that empowers educators to use SEL data to inform instructional delivery and adjust classroom practice. Works collaboratively with the Director of Health, Physical Education, & Family Consumer Science and the Director of Nursing to coordinate meetings and work of the districts School Wellness Advisory Committee in order to ensure that district policies and practices reflect student and community needs, as illustrated by Youth Health Survey data and other appropriate measures Serves as a liaison to the Central Massachusetts Regional Health Department 3. Community Partnerships & Ecosystem Development Cultivates high-level partnerships with industry and higher education to provide experiential learning through internships, capstones, and project-based learning, etc. Serves as the Secondary Supervisor of the Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE) and ensures curriculum and programming, including partnerships with business, non-profits, and industry, advance the districts goals for CTE. Directs the districts family engagement strategy, ensuring culturally proficient practices that enable the district to better serve students and families with diverse backgrounds (culturally, linguistically, socioeconomically, etc.) Builds a network of Shrewsbury Public Schools alumni in order to develop relationships to inform and support district and school improvements, as well as to determine the impact of a Shrewsbury education on alumnis subsequent college, workplace, and life experiences Contributes to the districts onboarding, mentoring, and induction programs for new staff 4. Personnel & Fiscal Management Acts as the districts primary architect for alternative revenue; identifies and pursues high-value corporate sponsorships and private-public partnerships to fund innovation beyond the School Departments budget. Identifies and secures state, federal, and private grants (e.g., SEL grants, CTE grants, etc.) and manages the department budget with transparency and fiscal responsibility. In collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent for Finance & Operations, assists in identifying and developing community-based alternative revenue sources and resources to address district needs Directs and leads efforts of the Director of Alumni Development and Community Relationships in order to support district initiatives to a) develop philanthropic financial support for the districts innovation fund and for special projects, and to b) leverage volunteer support for district and school initiatives Supervises and evaluates direct reports, ensuring their goals are aligned with the districts strategic priorities.
Qualifications:
Licensure:
Certified or eligible for licensure as Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent (MA DESE).
Education:
Masters degree required; Advanced degree (Ed.

D/Ph.D) in Educational Leadership, School Psychology, or Social Work preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of school administrative experience. Demonstrated expertise in
Data Literacy:
Experience using data visualization or SIS tools to drive decision-making.
Clinical/SEL Background Preferred:
Proven track record of implementing
K-12 SEL
frameworks (e.g., CASEL) and/or developing and creating systems of support to ensure student and staff wellness.
Communication:
Exceptional ability to translate complex wellness data into digestible information for public presentations and community engagement. Comfort with allcommunication channels, including cable television, social media, etc., to create and distribute information about partnerships and well-being to the community and staff.
