Job Description

MSAD 6 is seeking a dynamic Assistant Curriculum Director to join the Curriculum Team for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will provide leadership in the ongoing development and improvement of the school system's instructional programs.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or equivalent in Curriculum Development or related field is preferred. A valid Maine Department of Education certificate with an endorsement as a Curriculum Coordinator (#078) or a valid teaching certificate with a plan to earn a Curriculum Coordinator endorsement. Successful teaching experience. Successful experience as an instructional leader. Demonstrated positive, professional relationships with students, colleagues, and community-at large. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Key Responsibilities Curriculum & Instruction Leadership:
Guide the development, execution, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional services; support strategic initiatives such as curriculum mapping, vertical teaming, and academic pathways.
Data-Driven Practice & Assessment:
Assist in coordinating district-wide student assessments. Collaborate with administrators and coaches to analyze performance data and help teachers translate classroom data into actionable instructional strategies.
Staff Development & Support:
Help plan and execute professional development and in-service training. Conduct classroom observations upon request to provide instructional feedback, and assist in hiring and orienting new staff.
Program & Grant Management:
Partner with district leadership to develop, supervise, and manage Title I, II, III, and IV grants and programs.
Resources & Communication:
Source and distribute instructional materials (e.g., textbooks and curriculum guides), edit instructional publications, and serve as a formal liaison to the Board Curriculum Committee.
Community & Culture:
Help coordinate district-wide K-12 curricular events and celebrations, including District Arts Night, writing contests, and math meets. This position works 215 days per year, and is non-bargaining.
