 Mon. - Fri. 9:00am - 5:00pm Brief Job Overview/Summary The Executive Director of Stockton University's Center for Teaching & Learning Design (CTLD) provides vision and leadership for faculty-centered programs and services that support effectiveness in teaching, the advancement of research, scholarship and creative activities, service, leadership, and pedagogical innovation. CTLD supports the University's Teacher-Scholar model of high-impact faculty development. The candidate should be an experienced professional who will advance best practices and innovative pedagogical approaches that advance student learning improvement, student success, and post-graduation outcomes for the student populations we serve now and into the future. The Executive Director facilitates faculty research and leadership development, as well as faculty engagement, with innovative technologies and supported by new educational spaces provided by a renovated library commons opening in fall 2026. The Executive Director currently reports to the Dean of the Library and collaborates closely with the Schools, Information Technology Services (ITS), Bjork Library, the Office of Sponsored Research and Programs (OSRP), Academic Assessment, Faculty Academic Writing Network (FAWN), and other areas. The Executive Director collaborates with all instructional and research focused stakeholders to continue the growth and realignment of the CTLD with Stockton's new strategic plan, âœSoaring Forward:
Strengthening Community and Advancing Excellence.â In support of the plan, building on the Center's strong and impactful history, the successful candidate will be charged to work closely with faculty, deans, and the Provost's Office to re-envision the structure and vision of the CTLD to advance excellence in faculty's academic and professional development. As the supervisor of CTLD daily operations, the Executive Director ensures that the Center succeeds as a visible, safe, and collaborative space that supports and advocates for all faculty. The Executive Director supervises three full-time staff members, three part-time (TES) workers, student workers, and Faculty Fellows/Faculty Associates. The Executive Director collaborates with the CTLD Advisory Council to provide strategic and operational leadership for the design, implementation, assessment of CTLD activities, as well as evaluating the impacts of the CTLD on student learning improvement. The Executive Director provides individual and confidential evaluations of teaching and course design, supports faculty in addressing tenure and promotion standards, leads primary CTLD programs such as the Summer Institute, New Faculty Orientation, the Fall Faculty Academy course, and other events. The Executive Director mentors, facilitates, trains, encourages, and cultivates faculty to achieve their highest potential.Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Align the CTLD with Stockton's new strategic plan and articulate goals aligned to program development, implementation/management, and evaluation for the continued success of the Center focused on the primary entities served by the center (all levels of faculty, staff with instructional responsibilities, and graduate students with teaching responsibilities). Conduct regular needs assessment and prepare reports to monitor and evaluate achievement of desired outcomes Develop and administer the Center's annual budget, including cooperation with Stockton's Division of University Advancement and others to identify appropriate grants and other sources of funding to support the Center and its initiatives Recruit, supervise, and evaluate Center staff with a commitment to promoting staff professional development and growth. Work collaboratively with CTLD team members on programs and projects Manage the Center's Advisory Council with meetings held at least once per semester Plan, supervise, and assess the Center's Faculty Fellow/Faculty Associates program Develop and facilitate opportunities for graduate student training Implement planning for the Center as part of the new Library Learning Commons (opening in Fall 2026) Promote innovative, interdisciplinary, and inclusive teaching practices and promote ethical and effective AI use in teaching, learning, and scholarship Coordinate with other Stockton entities in both Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to promote faculty and student success. This includes programming that advocates pedagogies and inclusive teaching practices across modalities that facilitate innovative graduate and undergraduate student advancement Represent the Center with external agencies, community groups, the media, and other external stakeholders Conduct environmental scanning, evidence-based review, and strategic planning to advance best practices and effective Center programming through coordination with internal and external partners, maximizing human and financial resources Lead the Center's daily operations by providing leadership, program development, needs assessment, and support in offering CTLD training, resources, website development, programs, and faculty support, mentorship, and guidance related to pedagogical, leadership, scholarly/creative, and career development issues including accessibility, AI, tenure & promotion, research, course design, instructional technology, and more.Required Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in any discipline represented across Stockton's Curricula Experience in current collegiate teaching using multiple modalities (in-person, hybrid, synchronous, and asynchronous) Minimum of 2 years of experience with strategic leadership and the implementation of professional faculty development in a university or professional settingPreferred Qualifications:
A record of scholarship in teaching and learning Demonstrated experience with curriculum development, instructional design, and online pedagogy Record of increasing administrative responsibilities in higher education and academic affairs Evidence of budget management, ensuring cost-effective use of resources Excellent interpersonal skills including effective verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse faculty and staffScreening Information:
