This role ensures that curriculum, assessment practices, and instructional strategies are aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), state standards, and best practices in special education. The Supervisor of Curriculum provides instructional leadership, supports teacher development through coaching, ensures compliance with special education requirements, and collaborates with administration to strengthen academic programming and student outcomes. Reports to the principal and assistant principal. Key Responsibilities Curriculum & Instruction Lead the development, alignment, and implementation of curriculum across all grade spans and subject areas Ensure scope and sequence documents are vertically aligned and developmentally appropriate Monitor curriculum implementation to ensure fidelity and effectiveness Develop and refine instructional programs to meet the needs of diverse learners IEP & Academic Compliance Review PLAAFPs, academic goals, and objectives prior to administrative submission Ensure alignment between IEP goals and classroom instruction Support staff in developing measurable, standards-aligned goals Ensure compliance with special education regulations and best practices Assessment & Literacy Design and implement a comprehensive school-wide assessment system Lead literacy initiatives and oversee structured literacy programming Analyze student data to guide instructional decisions and professional development Instructional Coaching Provide ongoing instructional coaching to teaching staff Model effective teaching strategies and provide actionable feedback Deliver professional development aligned with school-wide goals Support differentiated instruction and specialized strategies for students with disabilities Program Oversight Co-lead the Community-Based Instruction (CBI) program Support planning and coordination of school trips and community partnerships Assist in the development and expansion of instructional programs and sites Administrative & Operational Support Assist the Principaland Assistant Principal with academic planning and scheduling Support accreditation processes, audits, and compliance reviews Maintain Work-Based Instruction (WBI) certification (or obtain within designated timeframe) Qualifications The NJ Department of Education requires a master's (or higher) degree for Supervisor certification. A valid NJ teaching or educational services certificate At least 3 years of full-time experience under that certificate\Completion of a supervisor certification program (usually ~12 graduate credits) Experience in instructional coaching, curriculum leadership, or a related role Strong knowledge of IEP development, compliance requirements, and specialized instructional practices Experience with literacy instruction for students with diverse learning needs preferred Core Competencies Instructional leadership Data-driven decision making Knowledge of special education compliance Strong communication and collaboration skills Coaching and professional development expertise Organizational and program management skills
