Job Summary The Clerkship Director - Internal Medicine provides academic and administrative leadership within Roseman University College of Medicine (RUCOM). This faculty leadership role is responsible for the design, implementation, delivery, assessment, and continuous improvement of the clerkship experience while ensuring compliance with institutional and LCME accreditation standards. The Clerkship Director works collaboratively with the Associate Dean for Clinical Education, Chair of Clinical Sciences, clerkship faculty, and clinical partners to oversee curriculum development, student assessment, faculty recruitment and development, clinical site quality, and educational outcomes that support student achievement and clinical competency. Essential Functions Curriculum Leadership & Educational Quality Provide academic leadership for the design, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement of the Internal Medicine Clerkship. Develop and maintain clerkship objectives, syllabus, educational content, learning activities, and assessment methodologies aligned with program and accreditation standards. Ensure consistency and quality of educational experiences all clerkship expectations across all clinical teaching sites. Student Assessment & Academic Oversight Monitor student performance, provide timely feedback, and assignment of grades. Develop and implement appropriate assignments, including OSCEs, quizzes, and other written assignments; and grade clerkship assignments and assessments as needed. Foster a learning environment that promotes professionalism, mutual respect, and student success. Accreditation & Program Evaluation Monitor clerkship quality indicators, including required clinical experiences, procedural requirements, duty-hour compliance, student evaluations, and other educational metrics. Maintain documentation and all necessary quality-based metrics required for institutional review and LCME accreditation activities. Utilize assessment data and program outcomes to support continuous quality improvement initiatives. Faculty & Clinical Site Development Recruit, develop, evaluate, and retain clerkship faculty, preceptors, and clinical training sites. Provide orientation, guidance, and support to faculty regarding curriculum, teaching expectations, assessment processes, and educational best practices. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with clinical partners and affiliated teaching sites. Other Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Required MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree with Board Certification in Internal Medicine or an ABIM-recognized subspecialty. Current Nevada medical license or eligibility for licensure in Nevada. Preferred Qualifications Prior clerkship, course, residency, fellowship, or educational leadership experience. Experience in medical student education, curriculum development, teaching and delivery, student assessment, and accreditation activities. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Individual must possess the knowledge and following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities: Knowledge of undergraduate medical education, clinical curriculum design, student assessment methodologies, and accreditation standards. Knowledge of LCME standards and best practices related to clerkship administration and educational quality. Demonstrated success working in interdisciplinary and interprofessional educational environments. Commitment to educational innovation, faculty development, and continuous improvement. Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate clinical educational programs and learning experiences. Strong leadership, mentoring, and faculty development skills. Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, students, healthcare professionals, and clinical partners. Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills. Ability to analyze educational data and utilize outcomes to support continuous quality improvement. Proficiency with learning management systems, curriculum management systems, and educational technology platforms.
