To provide professional development for teachers and to provide them with additional support needed to implement various instructional programs and practices. To provide leadership for the K-6 literacy plan.QUALIFICATIONS
State of Ohio teaching license / certificateELA 7-12
Master's degree (MA) or equivalent; MA in reading preferred Three years of successful teaching experience Extensive training / experience in literacy (examples include: Science of reading, dyslexia, ODE Reading Specialist Endorsement) Training and experience with mentoring and coaching adult learners Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriatePERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate the implementation of the local literacy plan and literacy frameworks . Ensure teachers are using the curriculum maps and covering all ELA standards using the District adopted curriculum. Provide professional development on implementing the components of the literacy plan. Work with teachers / administrators in implementation and support of the 7-12 literacy plan. Work with the building principals / teacher leaders to coordinate, deliver and provide appropriate professional development and coaching. Facilitate external professional development based on district and individual teacher needs. Effectively communicate accurate and up to date information to teachers, principals and students that will enhance student learning. Create a positive atmosphere that promotes cooperation and collaboration with administration, coworkers and students. Continuously monitor, track and analyze student achievement data in order to identify needed support and strategies. Work closely with teachers and administration to strategically create and implement a plan to increase student achievement in ELA. Facilitate collaboration vertically and horizontally with all ELA teachers. Facilitate use of student data to analyze deficiencies at 9-12 to close achievement gaps. Hold meetings with grade level teachers and administrators as needed Model lessons for teachers, observe teachers, fidelity checks and coach teachers as part of ongoing coaching cycles. Assist in the MTSS process for struggling students in ELA to help provide strategies and interventions.WORK ENVIRONMENT CHARACTERISTIC CONDITIONS
