Position Overview:
Hathaway Brown School seeks a dynamic and student-centered leader to serve as Director of Aspire Student Leadership and Director of Fellowships in Equity & Action . This role combines leadership of Aspire's summer program, coordination of select year-round student programming, and participation as a member of the Hathaway Brown faculty. The Director will lead Aspire's student-facing leadership, equity, and action initiatives, including oversight of the Equity & Action Fellowship, while also teaching and engaging with students during the academic year. This position is responsible for cultivating student voice, ethical leadership, and social impact across both Aspire and the broader school community. The ideal candidate will center students as change agents—guiding them through inquiry, advocacy, and action—while building strong connections between Aspire programming, the academic experience, and the mission of Hathaway Brown. Essential Responsibilities Lead the K-12 Action & Equity Fellowship (curriculum, instruction, mentorship) including teaching courses in the Middle and Upper Schools. Guide students in equity-focused leadership opportunities and action/service projects Oversee Aspire student programming (enrichment, leadership, belonging) Manage program operations (budget, scheduling, logistics, events) Support student recruitment and engagement in partnership with Admissions Foster strong student and alumnae community connections year-round Serve as a trusted, visible presence for students and represent the school externally Collaborate with Aspire and school leadership to align programs and support student outcomes
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required (Education, Social Sciences, Youth Development, Leadership, or related field); Master's preferred Experience with Aspire or similar access/enrichment programs strongly preferred Experience working with K-12 students in leadership, equity, or civic engagement settings Ability to design and facilitate student-centered programs, curriculum, or workshops Demonstrated commitment to equity, belonging, and student voice Experience mentoring students and leading project-based or action-oriented work Strong communication and relationship-building skills Highly organized with strong program management abilities Ability to collaborate across teams and work with multiple stakeholders Willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends for events Successful completion of background checks and school safety requirements
Language Skills :
Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking; capable of interpreting documents and communicating effectively with parents and staff.
Reasoning Ability :
Skilled in problem-solving, data collection, and drawing valid conclusions.
Physical Demands :
Regular activities include standing, walking, sitting, manual tasks, and communication. Frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crawling; occasional climbing or balancing. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally. Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
