The Executive Director, Bucks Online and Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for faculty-centered programs and services that support excellence in teaching, learning, and instructional innovation. The Executive Director advances evidence-based pedagogical practices, faculty development, and the effective integration of instructional technologies to improve student learning, persistence, and equitable outcomes. The Executive Director serves as the institutional lead for the College's learning management system (LMS), providing leadership for its administration, governance, and continuous improvement to support high-quality teaching across modalities. The position collaborates closely with academic leadership, Information Technology, Learning Resources, and student support units to align teaching and learning initiatives with institutional priorities. The Executive Director fosters a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative teaching and learning environment, supporting faculty in their professional growth, and ensuring that the CTL serves as a visible, trusted, and impactful resource for the College community. Essential Functions Strategic Leadership and Center Management Provide strategic vision and leadership for Bucks Online & the Center for Teaching and Learning aligned with the College's mission and student success priorities. Develop, implement, and assess a multi-year strategic plan for CTL programs, services, and initiatives. Conduct needs assessments and environmental scans to identify emerging trends in pedagogy, instructional technology, and faculty development. Develop and administer the CTL operating budget and allocate resources to support institutional priorities. Recruit, supervise, and evaluate CTL staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth. Establish and sustain a faculty-centered, inclusive environment that supports teaching excellence and continuous improvement. Learning Management System (LMS) Leadership and Governance Provide institutional leadership for the administration, governance, and optimization of the College's LMS. Collaborate with Information Technology and academic units to ensure system reliability, integration, and alignment with institutional systems. Lead LMS-related initiatives, including platform enhancements, tool integrations, and user experience improvements. Establish and maintain institutional standards for course design, accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), and quality assurance in online and hybrid courses. Develop and deliver LMS training, resources, and support for faculty to enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement. Monitor LMS analytics and usage data to inform decision-making, program improvement, and student success strategies. Ensure compliance with distance education regulations, including Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) and accessibility standards. Lead out-of-state authorization activities to ensure compliance with state laws and federal program integrity regulations. Monitor regulatory changes, coordinate required filings and responses, and promote college-wide awareness while collaborating with Pennsylvania legislators on distance education policy. Innovative Instructional Technology Leadership Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the selection, implementation, integration, and evaluation of innovative instructional technologies that enhance teaching and learning across modalities. Guide the adoption of technologies that support tactile, immersive, interactive, and engaging pedagogical approaches, including simulation tools, virtual and augmented reality, multimedia platforms, and emerging digital learning environments. Collaborate with instructional designers to ensure that technology integration is grounded in evidence-based pedagogy, aligns with course learning outcomes, and meets standards for accessibility (WCAG) and Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI). Collaborate with college stakeholders to establish processes for piloting, scaling, and assessing new instructional technologies, including the development of evaluation frameworks that measure impact on student engagement, learning outcomes, and equity. Monitor trends and advancements in educational technology to inform institutional strategy and maintain a forward-looking, innovative teaching and learning environment. Faculty Development and Instructional Innovation Design, implement, and assess comprehensive faculty development programs, including workshops, institutes, and learning communities. Support faculty in adopting evidence-based teaching practices, including active learning, inclusive pedagogy, and student-centered course design. Provide leadership in instructional design and support faculty in course development across modalities. Facilitate new faculty orientation, mentoring programs, and ongoing professional development initiatives. Promote innovative and ethical use of instructional technologies, including emerging tools and artificial intelligence in teaching and learning. Assessment, Evaluation, and Continuous Improvement Develop and implement assessment strategies to evaluate CTL programs and faculty development initiatives. Track key performance indicators related to faculty engagement, course quality, and student outcomes. Prepare reports and recommendations for senior leadership to support data-informed decision-making. Continuously refine programs and services based on assessment results and institutional priorities. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Education, Higher Education, Instructional Design, or a related field. Minimum of four (4) years of experience in faculty development, instructional design, academic technology, or a related area in higher education. Demonstrated experience with learning management system administration and support. Experience designing and facilitating faculty professional development programs. Knowledge of online learning best practices, accessibility standards, and instructional technologies. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Doctoral degree in a related field. Experience leading a Center for Teaching and Learning or similar unit. Experience supervising staff and managing budgets. Experience with curriculum development, online pedagogy, and instructional design. Familiarity with LMS analytics, system integrations, and educational technology ecosystems. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across academic and administrative units.
